Gerald Bierdeman

Jerry’s service will be livestreamed below at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Gerald “Jerry” Bierdeman, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at Edgewood Vista, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 26, 1940, in Sykeston, North Dakota, Jerry was the son of Herbert and Ella (Ziegeldorf) Bierdeman. Sykeston was not only his childhood home but also the place where he met his soulmate, Dila Schander. They tied the knot in 1963 and embarked on a remarkable journey together.

After serving honorably in the United States Army, Jerry and Dila settled in Fargo, where they raised their two sons, Mark and Brian. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Jerry later partnered with Al Bierdeman and Harley Haug to establish MinKo Construction, which allowed him to channel his passion for building and craftsmanship.

Jerry had a passion for the outdoors. Whether he was casting a line on a lake, walking in the woods with a rifle, or showing his skills on the golf course, he always found the joys of being outside. Known for his ability to fix anything around the house, he could tackle any odd job that came his way.

In his later years, Jerry and Dila enjoyed wintering in Arizona, spending quality time with friends and family. His honesty, and unmeasurable work ethic were part of what made him such a remarkable individual.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Dila; sons, Mark (Lindsey), Brian (Shannon); grandchildren, Logan, Lexie (Dylan) Leach, Riley, Bella, Conner, Jordan, Kaylee; great granddaughter, Audrey Leach; siblings, Allan (Johnne), Don (Peggy); and sister in laws, Chiko, and Loretta.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ella; and siblings, LaVerne, Esther (Del) Kundert, and James.

Donations can be made to HIA Hospice in honor of Jerry and for their wonderful care.
