In Loving Memory: Jamie Christopher Everett (August 13, 1974 – January 19, 2024)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jamie Christopher Everett, beloved husband and devoted father, who left us unexpectedly on the 19th of January 2024 at the age of 49. Jamie was born in International Falls, MN on August 13, 1974, to his loving mother, Joyce Wicklander & Father Pete Everett.

Jamie’s journey began in his hometown, International Falls, MN where he spent his childhood years creating cherished memories alongside his lifelong friends. He loved spending time in the great outdoors and loved sports, particularly baseball and softball, which was always close to his heart.

Upon graduating from Roseau High School in 1992, Jamie pursued higher education at Rainy River Community College in International Falls, MN. There, he obtained an associate of science degree, further shaping his knowledge and preparing him for the promising future ahead.

In 1995, Jamie made Fargo, ND his new home, embarking on a rewarding career with Coborn’s (Cash Wise) at the Moorhead, MN store. Through hard work and dedication, he ascended within the company, becoming the assistant store director at the Fargo, ND location. His commitment and leadership qualities left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the community.

Jamie’s greatest joy in life was his family. In September 2001, he joined in holy matrimony with the love of his life Christina Novotny in a heartfelt ceremony in Roseau, MN. Together, they shared the joys and challenges of life, building a strong and loving partnership. Their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters: Emma Victoria, who arrived in 1998, Hannah Joyce, born in 2002, and Ava Christina, their youngest, welcomed into the world in 2007. Jamie’s devotion to his wife and children was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Beyond his professional and familial accomplishments, Jamie had a genuine zest for life. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing with his wicked slice as he liked to call it. Jamie was an avid sports enthusiast, he reveled in cheering on his cherished University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey team. He was also a lifelong Vikings fan, able to make a few trips to the US Bank Stadium. Jamie & Christina made many trips to Las Vegas, even bringing the girls along for a wonderful family trip in 2019. Jamie also made several solo trips to play in the World Series of Poker. Over the years, Jamie, Christina, and the girls went on many family vacations to the Black Hills, Omaha, and trips to the cities for Twins games. Additionally, Jamie, Christina and the girls enjoyed many years at the Golden Eagle RV Village in Perham, MN. Their time was spent there enjoying golf cart rides, time at the lake, visiting and playing corn hole with fellow campers and many long nights at the campfire. Jamie loved the time spent up in the woods of northern Minnesota with his stepfather Harley Wicklander and Mother Joyce. Jamie’s favorite time of the year was the holidays spent with his sister Crystal, brother-in-law Adam, nephew Weston and niece Ella. Jamie also enjoyed spending time with his sister-in-law’s Amanda and Brittany and brother-in-law’s Seth and Ryan, on either a Sunday Funday or a trip to the local brewery. Jamie valued the company of his family and friends above all, reveling in their presence and creating cherished memories together.

Jamie’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his loved ones. He will be dearly missed by his wife Christina, who shared an unbreakable bond built on love and support. His daughters, Emma, Hannah and Ava who were the world to him. His sister Crystal whom he loved so much. He will also be remembered fondly by his beloved mother, Joyce Wicklander, whose unwavering love and guidance shaped him into the remarkable person he became.

In memory of Jamie and in recognition of his dedication to family, contributions can be made to the local 4 Luv of Dog Rescue in lieu of flowers. Let us remember Jamie as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, loved brother and loyal friend whose spirit will forever illuminate our lives.

May Jamie Christopher Everett rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

    • Jamie was the best boss I could ever asked for. He was always willing to take time out of his busy schedule to help me if I had any questions or concerns. I will really miss our conversations about football hockey and sports in general. I only knew him for a short time as I started at Cashwise in 2020. But talking to him I felt like I knew him forever. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to his family at this difficult time.

  1. Thinking of all of those great times we had growing up. Especially the ones that gave our parents more grays than they deserved. You were kind, loyal, super freaking smart, and a genuinely good guy. Rest easy, my friend. Save a spot at the poker table in the sky for me.

  2. Jamie was a friendly, welcoming face during the time I worked with him. He was one of those “real people” a person comes across in life. He will be missed by many.

  9. I worked with Jamie for 7 years and never heard him say a discouraging word. This is such a shock. I can’t believe it. Bless you Jamie. Ron Fischer

  10. Jamie was a great boss and just a genuine person in general. If you had work related issues or questions …or even personal issues he was there to listen, to give advice… or try to help find solutions. I’m definitely going to miss every single time he greeted me with a hi or him offering a slice of pizza. I remember when he hired me. He has always had a warming smile. You will be missed.

  11. A great friend and co-worker! We will miss you, Jamie. Thanks for all your kind words and guidance. Prayers for your families and colleagues. Rest in Peace. You’ll be deeply missed.

  12. I was blessed to get to know Jamie at work for the past almost eleven years and I will forever remember his hard work and dedication that he had at work every day, and how I could count on him for anything if I needed help, especially when I felt unsafe or sad! I will miss him so much and his kind and gentle, yet authorative role that he played in my life. I feel sad that I can’t make it to the service, but I send my love and deepest sympathy to Jamie’s family, especially Hannah whom I had also had the privilege to work with as a cashier.

  17. Condolences to family and friends. I’m the parent of a teenager that has worked for Jamie these last couple years, so I only know of him through the eyes of my son. I never expected my son to still be at his first job, but Jamie was the perfect leader. He was able to relate, encourage, motivate, and have patience. He was a great mentor, and our entire family is grateful for all the life skills that he has helped develop. My son rarely admires but he truly admired Jamie. Rest in peace.

  18. I will miss you dearly Jamie as a coworker and friend . You were always helpful and easy to talk with. An absolute genuine person and I was very lucky to have known you and learn from you. Rest in peace my dear friend.

  19. My heart goes out to his family. Jamie was an incredible leader to have been able to work with the last two years. Always so sweet and friendly even to those he didn’t know well. May he continue to brighten the lives of others on the other side

  20. Jamie was such a joy to work with, always had a smile and kind words. I’m glad I had the privilege to know and work with him

  21. Jamie was a beautiful man. He was a mentor to many. There were many moments at work that most people wouldn’t have handled with the kindness that he had. He was genuine, funny, smart, and caring. We had it pact on how to help some of our younger fellow employees when they seemed to be in trouble. He found food for the hungry with no money, and would let the homeless sleep in the cafe in the winter. Honestly, you could not do anything but respect him. Praying for your family to find peace and comfort soon.

  22. Thoughts and prayers to Jamie’s family. All of us at Cash Wise will miss him very much! I enjoyed working with him.

  23. I remember the first day I started here at cashwise you were so nice to me. I wish we could have been able to get know one another better. Brian is in shock as is everyone else. 26. My condolences to family. Jamie was a great boss to my son and after Riley quit he would ask how Riley was doing when I was at Cash Wise. I will miss his wave and smiling face.

  27. Jamie was a kind soul, one who was always happy to see you. He would take a minute for a kind greeting, no matter how busy he was. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jamie’s family and friends. He will be missed greatly.

  28. Jamie was one of the most genuine, caring people I knew. He basically watched me grow up. We worked together for a while when I was in my teens. Then he’s watch my kids grow up over the years. He’s was such an amazing man and he’s going to be missed by everyone

  30. Condolences to Jamie’s family. I enjoyed working with Jamie at cash wise. He always had a smile for everyone he will be greatly missed

  31. The thing I liked most about Jamie was that he was quick to share a laugh with you. His personality was very warm and you have to love the sound of his voice. Jamie was very intelligent and he used his intelligence gracefully, always treated others with respect. I knew him as a co-worker and even though I no longer work with him the store just won’t be the same without him, his leadership and friendship will be missed. I’ll never forget you sir.

  32. You will be missed by many, Jamie! I remember how much Donnis thought of you when she was at Cashwise. How surprised when she found out our connection. Your one terrific guy who touched SO MANY lives.
    RIP JAMIE!!

  33. To Jamie’s family: I hope you find peace. I’m certain that you have cherished the time that you have had with Jamie. Life is so short and we are lucky to have this short time with each other. My deepest condolences. I can’t imagine what you are going through.

Jamie, you will be missed. I have fond memories of playing Techmo Bowl on that monstrous 19” tv that you bought. I was never much of a football fan before I met you…now I’m a life long Vikings fan (yeah some good and some bad with that). We had some great times. I mistakenly thought that some of our great times were thanks to Harley’s lack of attention to his liquor cabinet (sorry for that), but in reality it was thanks to the company we kept and our adventurous nature. You were one of my first true friends. I say “true” friends because you wouldn’t have been any other kind of friend. I wouldn’t be the same person today had we never met. Thank you for that! I will miss you…my brother.

  34. I have many good memories of the people I worked with at Cashwise & Jamie was definitely one of them! Such a great man with such a fun personality! Always took time to talk & listen. You have touched many lives & will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to Christina & his precious girls & family .

  35. I have worked with Jamie for almost 7 years, he was always kind and would say hi to me in the morning or afternoon. He would ask if I was just coming in, how I was doing and always asked how college was going when I was in school. He was always willing to help when I had things I had questions about and taught me so much. I miss him a lot and my condolences to his family.

  36. Jamie was a blessing to have in the workplace—he treated both customers and coworkers alike with kindness, patience, and warmth. I’m glad to have met him. He will be missed by many.

  37. Jamie — I sure will miss you — as I have been there at cashwise for almost 7 yrs. and 8 months — you always had a smile for me , would recognize me , always asking how I was doing , how things were going , always talking for a few minutes , how my pomeranians — my show babies — were doing , listening to my little pom stories , the ‘ family pictures ‘ of them , talking about ‘ For The Love of Dogs ‘ and ‘ Adopt A Pet ‘ . When I would have them with me in the store you would always come over ‘ welcome them’ and to say ‘ hi ‘ and always had to see them and they just loved him too . Now that you are up in heaven with my ” Little Miss Mitzey Mae– my ” Little Southern Girl ” and ” Little Princess Maria ” — please give them both lots of hugs and love for me and they so loved that when you gave that in the store and now with ” Little Buddy Butters “. I still can’t believe it and wishing your family the very best of everything . Paul and ” Little Buddy Butters — Mr. B — Aaarrrfff !!!

  38. My sympathy to his family and friends,he was a true gentleman and friend,he will be dearly missed,I will always remember his smile and his soft spoken voice,RIP my friend

  39. I was so fortunate to work with Jamie at Cashwise for many years. He was a mentor to many and a role model for all of us. He was always willing to help out in any department and treated every employee and customer with respect. He will be missed.

  40. One of the coolest coworkers I’ve had, even if I didn’t see him around much. Was so heartbreaking hearing news of your passing. May you Rest In Peace, and stay in our memories and hearts.

  41. I met Jaime at Cash Wise while working for Nabisco 8 years ago. He was so kind and welcoming. Always had a smile and hello.
Later, I would take my uncle shopping there and would see that smile. The last time I saw it was Nickelback concert.(I think) and he gave me a hug. I will treasure the hug and memories of working in his store.
I only found out today while there, and it is now a bittersweet feeling walking the aisles.
I wish his family and friends comfort and strength always!
May the Lord console you .
