Jana Mae Gerstner, 83, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at Eventide on Eighth Care Center in Moorhead, MN.

She was born on July 28, 1942 to Bill and Irene (Moravec) Anderson in Bowman, ND. She grew up as their sole child in Scranton, ND and would go on to meet Loyd Gerstner, a bricklayer. They were married on December 21, 1960 and moved to Fargo, ND where they raised four children.

Jana was a dedicated housewife who successfully managed a busy home. After divorcing in 1980, she thrived in her South Fargo townhome for nearly 40 years. Jana loved gardening, making crafts and spending time with friends and family, especially her six grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Will Gerstner, Lake Oswego, OR and daughters Diane Singelmann, Lynn Klein (Scott Paulson), and Barb Gerstner all of Fargo; her grandchildren, Lauren (Ben Norman) and Jamie Singelmann, Zachary and Benjamin Klein, Kaycie (John) Schmidt and Nicholas Lindeman. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Layla and Blake Schmidt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo with visitation at 1:00.
Special thanks to those at Eventide for their care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

  2. I always knew your mom as Jana Mae. She and my mom, Doris Sand, would talk for hours on the phone. It was one of the highlights of my mom’s day. Our condolences to your family.
