Jarvis Windt

Jarvis (Jerry) Windt passed away peacefully on 11 August surrounded by family and loved ones. Jerry was born on 20 April, 1942 to John and Anne Windt in Pembina, North Dakota where he grew up on a farm a few miles west of town. He was the third of six children. He graduated from Pembina High School in 1960 and Aakers Business College (now Rasmussen College) in 1962. In future years, he furthered his education through the American Institute of Banking. He would continue to attend school in the evenings and received additional certification in banking and finance. In 1959, Jerry married Linda Easter and together had three children; Laurie, Jamey and Jerry Jr. They later divorced. He was employed by Crookston National Bank for one year and in 1963 moved his family to California where he began a 23- year banking career with First Interstate Bank of California (now Wells Fargo Bank). He would later become the youngest bank manager in the bank’s history. One of the highlights of Jerry’s banking career was the opportunity to be Liberace’s personal banker for several years. While living in California, Jerry was on the board of directors of the Glendora Chamber of Commerce for a number of years and belonged to the Kiwanis Club and Lions Club.
Jerry was involved with Little League baseball as a coach and manager. He spent countless hours with son, Jerry Jr, practicing on the ball diamond or back yard. He was a doting father to his two daughters, Laurie and Jamey. Jerry enjoyed golf, fishing and woodworking.
In 1989, Jerry came to the Fargo/Moorhead area and met a pretty widow by the name of Adda Campbell and decided he should maybe stay awhile. They shared their life and their love for over 30 years until his passing.
In 1990, Jerry began employment with Richards Transportation Service where he remained for the next 23 years until, in 2013, he retired due to health issues. Jerry truly enjoyed working for owners Mark and Jay Richards and valued his relationships with the extended Richards family and friends.
Jerry lived life large. He was always the life of the party, care free and careless! He always evoked laughter from the people around him.
Jerry is survived by his partner, Adda Campbell, Fargo, daughters Laurie Grant (Las Vegas, NV) and Jamey Windt, (Pocatello, ID) son Jerry Jr. (Angela, Upland, CA) grandchildren Danielle Grant and Emily Windt, (California) sister Dorothy Davis (Del, Fargo) and brothers William Windt (Brenda, Fargo) and Donald Windt (Jolene, Kokomo, IN).
Jerry was preceded in death by his infant brother William, parents John and Anne Windt, sister Marian Stewart, special brothers-in-law Gary Stewart and Kenneth Easter and former wife, Linda Easter.
A private ceremony will be held at the Pembina Cemetery where Jerry will be laid to rest next to his father, mother, sister and brother-in-law.
Words can’t express the family’s appreciation for the magnificent care provide to Jerry by the doctors and nurses of Sanford Medical Center and Hospice of Red River Valley. They truly were outstanding.
Also, the family would like to thank Boulger Funeral home for their wonderful service and support.
My love and sympathy to you Adda. I have fond memories of life at Pelican. Jerry had a successful life and did well. Take care if yourself and my thoughts are with you and the family. Love and Prayers Arlene
