Jayda Rae Provorse was called home to glory in the early morning of November 11, 2025, at her home in West Fargo, ND, with family at her side. She was 68 years old.
Born February 10, 1957, in Jamestown, ND, to Aletha Maxine (Flaherty) and Wilbur Fritz Dent, Jayda was the sixth of seven children. She was brought up in the Christian church and held strong to her faith until her passing, spending much of her last days listening to praise and worship music, and still singing along with joy and hopeful expectation in her eyes. Her home church for most of her life was The Salvation Army in Jamestown, where she both attended and volunteered.
Jayda met and married Charles William Provorse in 1978, and they had two children: Joshua Allen, born 1979; and Jeremiah Daniel, born 1980. She wanted nothing more in life than to be a mother, caring for all children, whether she gave birth to them or not. She was godmother to nieces Barb Lenhart and Jeana Jacobson, and nephew Dillon Morehouse. She was especially close with her son Joshua’s step-son Colten Marks; and with Katie Morehouse-Peterson, who she called her adopted daughter. She spent the last twelve years of her life being a mother to Riley James, her companion dog who came to live with her after her husband passed away.
Jayda spent much of her life earning a living by working with children, too, as well as people of all ages with special needs. She especially loved her time with Dietrich Bus Service and James River Transit, providing helpful transportation with a welcoming smile and lots of love. Much of her work with The Salvation Army was centered on children, and she assisted with a variety of nutritious cooking classes for young people through the NDSU Extension Service. She was always a child at heart herself, and she brought love to folks of all ages everywhere.
Jayda was also a crafty person who did a variety of creative things throughout her life, including creating an assortment of items for home decor, decorating cakes, painting, and more. She loved to fill her home with the spirit of each season. Even in her later years, she took great pleasure in coloring books or anything else that connected her with her creative side. Her last work was a series of acrylic pour-paintings she made in the days leading up to her passing. The Northern Lights intensely filled the sky with color for her for two nights after she went home.
Jayda was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, as well as three sisters: Janice Mallard, Jody Pahl, and Joni Kapp. She is survived by both her sons and her dog, sisters June Shriver and Jewel Lundgren, and brother Jayson Dent, along with a wealth of family and friends who together lift up her spirit to God, that she may be at peace at last.
Jayda’s celebration of life will be held at The Salvation Army in Fargo, ND, with interment at Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.
Other arrangements courteously handled through Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo.
