John Peter Calvert passed away on October 7, 2025 at the Fargo Veterans Hospital.
John was born on July, 14, 1939 in Williston, North Dakota to his parents, Walter and Inga (Skjerva) Calvert.
He went on to complete a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree at the University of North Dakota. Following these academic accomplishments, he went on to earn his PHD at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Dr. Nellie Calvert, and many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
I remember Uncle John and his fishing and travel stories… John was a bit of a recluse… but very willing to share when he came to visit.
We always thought he was bigger than life and Dad was always so proud of him.
Marlan and I have gotten to know him and Nellie a bit the last few years…they were a perfect match. John was a mild mannered giant, soft spoken and kind…Nellie is and was his spunky spark. He will be greatly missed. His life and memory is cherished by those who knew him.
Nellie, be kind to yourself. We are here for you.
