Jolene Brown (Stransky), age 60, died peacefully in her home on June 12th, 2023 surrounded by family after battling stage 4 colon cancer for 15 months.

Jolene was born on March 11, 1963 in Fargo, ND to Laudie and Barbara Stransky. She attended St. Anthony Grade School and Fargo South High School. Jolene attended NDSU and MSUM for her degree in family studies and social work and held a North Dakota social work license. Jolene worked at Red River Human Services Foundation for almost 34 years. She enjoyed working with the clients and made many memories over the years.

On November 3, 1989, Jolene and Jerry married in Sioux Falls, SD. They have celebrated 33 years of marriage. They have four daughters: Stephanie, Samantha, Lexy, and Kayla. Jolene’s interests included reading, going to her lake cabin, traveling, and always seeing her beautiful grandchildren. Jolene was the center of many gatherings, whether it be for holidays or weekend get togethers. Her door was always open.

Jolene is survived by her loving husband Jerry Brown; four daughters: Stephanie (Tanner Hoffart), Samantha Brown (Michael), Lexy Brown (Brady), and Kayla Brown (Austin); and four grandchildren: Benjamin (11), Kaiya (4), Lillian (3), Kayson (1); six sisters, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, Laudie and Barbara Stransky.

  1. Unfortunately I didn’t have an opportunity to meet her earlier than I did. She welcomed me like she knew me for a long time. She was best friends with Merry and I always liked being around her and Jerry. My condolences to all the family. Jolene was a sweet person who agreed with my assessment of Cliff😂
