Jonathan R. Grothe, resident of Moorhead, MN, and former resident of Hendrum, MN, died on January 2, 2025. Son of Raymond and Ruth Grothe, born May 10, 1960, Jonathan lived most of his life on the family farm of rural Hendrum graduating from Hendrum High School and North Dakota State University. In high school he was captain of the football team. He was in track, basketball, and plays. He was very family oriented. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was involved in Hendrum community activities. He was a farmer, church custodian, and tire changer.

Jonathan’s family is profoundly grateful to those who gave him care at Eventide and Lilac Homes as he struggled with Lewy Body Dementia.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Daniel.

He is survived by his brothers Paul (Rebecca) and Steven, sister Mary (Emilio) and nieces Cynthia and Amanda, as well as many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN – with a visitation one hour prior

BURIAL: 1:30 PM Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Saint Pauli Cemetery near Hendrum, MN
