Josephine Kalina
Josephine Mary Kalina, 84, Valley City, ND formerly of Fargo, ND passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. She was born on March 19, 1934 to Harry and Rose (Mihulka) Kalina.
Following her graduation from Bowman High School in 1953, Josie got a job in Rapid City, SD working in the kitchen of Bennett Memorial Hospital. It was too far to walk to in the winter, so she began doing maid work at St. John’s Hospital. She then lived in Jamestown briefly before moving to Wilton, ND where she was employed at Anderson Nursing Home working as a kitchen aide, and cleaning and distributing medicine to the residents. Josie then lived in Portland, OR for nine years before returning to Fargo. She worked as a maid at the Gardner Hotel for three years.
Josie enjoyed fellowship at the Cornerstone Ministries in Fargo and she liked to embroider.
In February of 2004, Josie moved to Bethany Towers and in December she moved to the Moorhead Manor. She moved to Arbor Park Living Center in May of 2008. Due to failing health she was moved to the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND in March of 2017, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff and Hospice caregivers.
Josie is survived by her precious friend and guardian, Wanda Niess.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Kalina, and aunt, Violet Pratt.
Such a nice picture of Josie. She was very fortunate to have Wanda Niess as her faithful caregiver all these years. May Josie rest in peace in the the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
