June Volk

June passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, at the age of 85.
June Marie Nelson was born on June 5, 1933, the daughter of Clarence and Nina (Bakken) Nelson in Hawley, MN. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1951. June worked at JC Penney’s in downtown Fargo, the Fargo Theater and also worked for the phone company from September of 1951 until 1956.
June was united in marriage to Raymond (Jack) Volk at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo in 1956. They had four children – Jeff, Brad, David, and Nancy. Jack passed away on January 20, 2015. Throughout the years, she helped her husband with the apartment buildings for W-R Investments. She served as President of the Elkettes for the Elks Club, and bowled in many different bowling leagues.
June loved her time with family at the lake, spending time during the winters in Arizona, enjoyed going to the casinos and playing pull tabs and bingo, and going out for dinners and entertaining family and friends at her dinner parties. She was a very wonderful cook and baker.
June was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack; her two sons – Jeff Volk and David Volk; her sister, Betty and her husband, Don; her brother-in-law, William “Bill” Volk, and his wife, June; her stepbrother, Frank Politiski; her parents, Clarence and Nina; her son-in-law, James Reger; and several aunts and uncles.
June is survived by her son, Brad Volk of Lake Melissa; her daughter, Nancy and her son, grandson, Jack; her daughter-in-law, Julie Volk and her daughters, granddaughters, Nina and Kari; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the entire staff on the 4th floor at Rosewood. The loving care and compassion shown to June will never be forgotten.

So very sorry to hear of your passing, June! I remember you and Jack as my second family. The many times I spent long weekends at the “A” frames in DL! What a blast! Thank you for so many great memories! You will be greatly missed. But I know you are at peace with Jack and your two sons and so many more that have gone before you.. Rest in peace, June and my thoughts and prayers are with you my sweet friend, Nancy! Sending my love to you!
Life long memories of dear Aunt June will always be close to my heart! Growing up in Fargo & down the road on Lake Melissa bring back all the fun events of holidays & youthful adventure. She was one of the first mothers to hire me as a babysitter to my younger cousins & offered lots of advice to a young teenage girl!
As the years went by it was always fun to come back & visit Uncle Jack & Aunt June. They both made my family feel so welcome. I will always cherish her humor & family gatherings. Rest in peace until we meet again!
