Lawrence Nehkayeh Helb, a beloved son, and father, will always be remembered for his vibrant spirit and enduring love for his family. Born on January 22, 1990, in Elwa, West Africa, the only son to his mother, Ellen Helb. He was raised by his mother with the help of his grandmother, Dekuseh R. Helb Mcjunkins. Lawrence journeyed to the United States in 1998 at the age of 8 with his mother. Despite facing various challenges, Lawrence never lost his determination and resilience. He first attended school in New York and later moved to Philadelphia to further pursue his education and eventually settled in Iowa for a time before moving to Fargo to be closer to his sons, Lawrence Jr. and Lamar Helb.
Throughout his life, Lawrence held various jobs, including working at Applebee’s and construction. He valued hard work and always strived to provide for his family to ensure a bright future for his children, Alfred, Lawrence Jr., and Lamar Helb.
Lawrence’s love for music and singing brought joy to those around him, and his warm smile could light up any room. He cherished moments spent with his mother, Ellen Helb, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
Lawrence is survived by his mother, Ellen Helb; and his sons Alfred, Lawrence Jr., and Lamar Helb; grandmother, Dekuseh R. Helb Mcjunkins; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of some close friends he had made along his life’s journey.
The funeral service and ceremonies will pay tribute to Lawrence’s resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. Although Lawrence may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Lawrence Nehkayeh Helb.
