Lowell Paul Degnan, 74, of Fargo, ND passed away at the VA Hospital Fargo on October 4, 2023.

He was born August 26th, 1949 in Aberdeen, SD to Alvhild and Buryl Degnan. They later moved to Ellendle, ND and eventually to Valley City, ND. Lowell attended Valley City State Normal Grade School, Washington Grade School, Valley City Jr. High and graduated in 1968 from Valley City High School.

He then joined the US Navy. After serving he eventually made his way back to North Dakota. He worked for and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad.

Lowell was proceeded in death by Maternal Grandparents Pauline and Ingvald Berg of Buffalo, ND. Paternal Grandparents Gladys and William Degnan of Buffalo Gap, SD. Parents Alvhild and Buryl Degnan of Valley City, ND, infant son Wrey Degnan of Wahpeton, ND. And numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

He is survived by his three children Allie Balsdon, Brooke Balsdon and Brady Balsdon all of Fargo, ND. His sister Patricia (Patrick) Finn, nephew Eric Wilson, niece Callie Wilson all of Tucson, AZ and Cousin Jean Gahan of Sacramento, CA.

Service will be at Boulger Funeral Home at 10 am November 3rd.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about Lowell’s passing. My sincerest condolences to Allie, Brooke, and Brady. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. I’ll miss Lowell of seeing him coming to the Amvets religiously on a daily basis and seeing all his friends. RIP my friend.
