Born in: Grand Forks, North Dakota

The song is ended, but the timeless treasures of the heart live on in our hearts, the family of Matthew J. Stansbury announce his sudden passing on May 15, 2025, at the age of 48, due to a sudden illness. Life holds many faces, but I can only listen. Matthew was a kind, impetuous, loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and much more to those who loved him.

He grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1995. Matthew worked as a chef, a caregiver, a person who loved to travel, and enjoyed his adventurous family, especially his children whom he was deeply proud of.

Matthew is survived by his wife Marsha (Resler); his children, Arielle, Sophia, Bryce; his many grandchildren whom he enjoyed; and his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his gracious mother Darlene; two brothers, Joshua (Rhegan) Stansbury, and their children Lillianah, Isabella, and Josias; and Mark (Jenny) Stansbury.

Matthew was pre-deceased by his father, John Paul Stansbury Junior.

A memorial service will be held at The Salvation Army in Fargo, North Dakota on May 30, 2025, at 2:30 PM.

Say not in grief, “he has no more, but in thankfulness that he was”. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to be made to the Salvation Army, an organization Matthew felt strongly about. His ashes will be laid to rest in Geneseo, North Dakota. He will continue on with a new adventure as he always did.
