Michael D. Dehn

March 25, 1952 ~ June 21, 2025
Michael Dehn, 73, of Enderlin, ND, passed away on June 21, 2025.
Mike was born in Lisbon, ND, on March 25, 1952, and grew up in Enderlin. He graduated from high school in Enderlin in 1970 and later earned a degree in HVAC from Moorhead Technical Institute. Mike spent most of his life serving his community—whether fixing furnaces, working on the railroad, or serving as the Enderlin volunteer fire chief.
He married Lonna (Spitzer) Ristvedt in 1973, and together they had two children: Justin Dehn and Shalonn Simmons (Brian).
Mike later married Kathy Pfaff in 2009. Between them, they had seven children, 18 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his brother, Bryan Dehn (Peggy), and his sisters, Joan Herring (Jerry), Lori Dunne, and Bonita Dehn (Narin). He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Gladys (Oslie) Dehn; his brother, Brett Dehn; and his brother-in-law, Kevin Dunne.
Mike loved spending time with family and friends, taking road trips with Kathy to the casino, enjoying happy hours in their sunroom, and fishing.
Mike’s generosity, strength, and dry humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was always quick to help anyone in need—no matter the time of day or night. All it took was a phone call, and he would be there. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, through the stories told and the laughter shared.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin.
We are sorry to hear of the loss of Mike. The Dehns were neighbors of our grandmother and later our family. I had talked with Mike at the Memorial Day service. He will be missed.
Mike was a good man and a great friend. He will be missed. Prayers for his family.
So sorry for Mike’s very sad and devastating death. May your hearts heal as you embrace God’s promise! Justin and Shalonn, I will continue to lift you and your sweet families in prayer! God bless your memories!

We were community friends of Mike’s family.
Virgil’s Mother, Margaret, taught Justin and Shalonn in First Lutheran Sunday School along with their performances in Christmas Programs, regular Sunday services and the special days of the church calendar such as Palm Sunday and Easter.
Our children attended Sunday School and Enderlin School District at approximately the same time with Mike’s children.
It is heart breaking to be comprehending the tragic loss of Mike and Kathy. Words are hard to find to express our sympathies. May God give the peace that passes all understanding to you and all family, friends along with the entire church and community.

What can I say I always went to Mike for help filling out paperwork no matter what it was! His favorite fishing spot was in my basement is what he told people! Loved having him as my brother in law! I will miss going out there to visit! RIP Mike and Kathy!
I remember Mike well from my days as a kid on my grandparents’ farm, the Valley (Schmitz) Farm, located on the south edge of Enderlin. Mike was my Uncle Joe’s age; they were fast friends, so he was one of my friends, too. I can see Mike and hear his voice in my grandma’s welcoming kitchen. I imagine we were all eating Grandma’s pancakes, and the kitchen smelled like love spread thin on hot cast iron—my condolences to his family and friends.
