Milt passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo at the age of 87.

Milton Vernon Aus was born on May 13, 1935, in Barnes County, ND, the son of Melvin and Vivian (Henningsgard) Aus. He grew up in this area and received his education in the Valley City area.

He was united in marriage to Mary Anne (Bartelson) Rasmussen on June 30, 1973, in South Dakota. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, MN before moving to Kindred, ND, in 1974, where they have made their home since that time. Milt was well known in the Kindred area for his many years of working at the Kindred Elevator, retiring in 1999. In earlier years, he drove truck over the road and was very proud of his over 2 million miles of accident free record.

Milt and Mary Anne enjoyed their early retirement years by spending time camping and making the occasional casino visit.

Milt is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne of Kindred; his children – Vernon (Karen) Aus of Sanborn, ND; Mary Lynn (Durwin) Berntson of Valley City, ND; Margaret “Peggy” (Steve) Neff of Mandan, ND; Michael (Jenae) Aus of Durango, CO; Melissa Aus of Moorhead, MN; Milton Jr. (Andrea) Aus of Mandan, ND; Mary (Jack) Bryngelson of Callaway, MN; Debra Schatzke of Fargo, ND; Jeff (Sue) Rasmussen of Barnesville, MN; Mike Rasmussen of Kindred, ND; and many very special grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Duane (Marty) Aus Boxelder, SD; and several nieces and nephews and many other very dear relatives.

Milt was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Vivian; his brother, Kenneth (Eleanor) Henningsgard; and his sister, Marlene (Doug) Siedschlag; his daughter, Nichelle Aus; his sons, Rick Rasmussen and Joey Rasmussen; his son-in-law, Greg Schatzke; and twin great granddaughters, Areana and Ericka Sander.

A Gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Fredrikson-Boulger Funeral Chapel in Kindred, ND beginning at 2 PM. Instead of flowers, please bring a story to share.
