Mona Fay Fiedler was born on August 29, 1945, in Turtle Lake, ND. She was the second of three children born to Edwin and Mary (Rust) Feidler. Mona grew up on the family farm near Mercer, ND and graduated from Mercer High School. She then graduated with a BS degree in secondary education from Minot State University.
On July 3, 1965, Mona married the love of her life, Harold H. Schmeets. They lived in the Minot area and Mona taught at Glenburn High and then at Berthold High.
In 1969 they moved to Harvey, ND where they raised three of the greatest earthly blessings in their lives – Dennis, Stuart, and Shauna. They all enjoyed the freedom and adventure of living in the country. Mona taught for many years in the Harvey Public School system and enjoyed working with junior high young people. She also loved working in the church, writing, reading, golf, and riding bike; however, the greatest joy was having Jesus Christ as the Savior and Lord in her life.
After retirement, Harold and Mona moved to Lake Lida, near Pelican Rapids, MN. They enjoyed being close to some of their children and grandchildren.
Mona is survived by her husband, Harold; sons, Dennis (Tammy Trent) and Stuart (Jamie Marden); daughter, Shauna (John Fellman); 9 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Brianna, Karissa, Abigail, Amelia, Lucas, William, and Lauren; brother, Byron (Margie Swanson) Fiedler; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Arvid Wagner.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo. To sign the online guest book, or to view a livestream of the funeral service, please visit our website at www.boulgerfuneralhome.com

Harold, Dennis, Stu and Shauna – you folks along with Mona were the first folks we met when coming to Harvey. We became friends immediately and had many memorable fun times. I taught with Mona and had a great respect for her in her teaching. God be with you knowing that you have a great family and many memories. ~~~Gary E Skogen

Rest in peace Mona, she was one of my son’s favorite teachers and he says to this day that she taught him how to make kneophla soup and sew the buttons on his clothes. She touched so many lives.
Mona was such an inspiration and shining light in our time working together at Shiloh. She showed me what a Woman of God should be as she lived it out every day of her life. Mona we will miss you greatly, but some day we will be rejoicing together in Heaven singing praises to our Heavenly Father. I love you My Special Friend!!!!

Mona and I met at Shiloh Christian School in Bismarck where she was the school secretary and I taught junior high. Her sweet smile and friendly disposition greeted everyone who walked into the school. She was so kind, composed, and patient. She was loved by all!
Prayers for the family, especially Harold, as I grieve the loss of my high school classmate. Enjoyed seeing her and visiting with her at our first all school reunion.
Our condolences to Harold and family in the loss of Mona.

Dear Family, I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that she is at peace .
That picture is how I remember her, always a smile. We saw each other often during our teaching days in Harvey. We became neighbors when the family moved to the country. Those were special days for our kyds.
I pray for comfort for you now and in the coming days when you’re missing her or just need to ask her something. Rejoice in your memories. You were so blessed to have had her in your lives.
With our deep sympathy Harold and family. Remembering great times at Stony Bar with such a loving and caring Mona. Always a smile and willingness to help with anything. Keep your wonderful memories close to your heart. Rest in Peace Mona in Jesus’ arms. Hugs to you Harold.
Our heartfelt sympathy to you all.
Barry and I met Mona and Harold shortly after they moved to Lake Lida, where we also lived at the time. We became fast friends and enjoyed being in a wonderful small group Bible study with them during those years. Mona was always so kind, loving and encouraging. She loved the Lord and had such a rock-solid faith in Him. I remember one evening they had invited us over for dinner right before I was going to have to fly overseas for the first time by myself. I was battling some fear and anxiety. After dinner, Mona prayed for my trip with me and when she finished she looked up with a smile on her face and said confidently, “That’s done!” Her prayer and those two words went straight to my heart and strengthened my faith and confidence in the Lord so much. I will never forget it. I will always be so thankful our paths crossed with such dear friends as Harold and Mona.
My love and prayers are with you, Harold, and your children and grandchildren as you grieve her loss. I know the Lord will give you the grace and comfort you need for each day.
Harold, so sorry to hear of Mona’s passing. She was always such a special lady. I’m sure she is enjoying seeing her loved ones again and waiting for you some day.

Dear Harold, children, and grandchildren, We are so sorry to hear of Mona’s death. She was such an encourager. Greg and I remember when he was between jobs, and Mona sent him a beautiful note of encouragement. Also, when we were shorthanded on Worship team on Sundays, she’d be happy to step in and sing with us. Her lovely smile that came from her deep faith seemed to always be present on her face. We didn’t get to see Harold and Mona after their move to Fargo, but we definitely miss them and their friendship. We are so thankful she is in the Lord’s presence and no longer in pain.
My thoughts and prayers to all of you at this time. Mona was such a kind, compassionate, caring, Christian woman. We have many fond memories of her at the church and community here in Harvey. Stan Buxa
Our sympathies to you, Harold, and all the family. Mona was an inspiration to all who knew her, always with a beautiful smile. We look forward to meeting again in heaven.
We continue to enjoy her knoephla soup that she had her 7th graders learn to make!
May God bless you all with wonderful memories of Mona.
