Norman Maynard

April 6, 1939 ~ March 23, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Norman Francis Maynard, who departed this life on March 23, 2025, at the age of 85. Norman was born on April 6, 1939, in Delavan, Wisconsin, to Nathan Francis and Dorothy T. Maynard. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.
Following his graduation from Delavan High School in 1957, Norman honorably served in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1958. During his esteemed military career, he exemplified the values of duty and honor until his retirement in 1978. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Jean Shankar, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter.
After his military service, Norman began a successful banking career at First and Merchants Bank in Newport News, Virginia. In 1980, he relocated to North Dakota, where he continued his career at Dakota Bank, ultimately retiring in 2000. Following retirement, he became a part-owner of Road Wolf Motorcycles in 2005, joining his son, Nick, to help with the books and serve other motorcycle enthusiasts.
Norman is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Nick (Mary) Maynard and Jeff Maynard; grandchildren, Clair, Michaela, and Nathaniel; and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary man, we honor his legacy of service, love, and commitment to family. May he rest in peace.
