I found a photograph or Orton’s mother at the Library of Congress collection. It looks like a photographer for Bain News Service was looking for celebrities aboard the SS Stavangerfjord on August 11, 1925 and took a photo of a pretty single girl in a traditional Norwegian bunad. This photographer had a habit of taking photos of pretty woman, probably as a way to introduce himself.
