In Loving Memory of Pamela Jo Schreiner (Hurt)
Born May 5, 1948 – Passed July 28, 2025
Pamela Jo Schreiner was born on May 5, 1948 in Oakes, North Dakota, to loving parents Edwin and Alice Hurt. The fourth of ten siblings, Pamela grew up in a lively household filled with warmth and laughter of a large family. She graduated from Oakes High School, where her caring and outgoing personality shone brightly. Her vibrant spirit and sense of community led to her being crowned the North Dakota Dairy Princess, a title that showcased both her beauty and charm. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Charles. Their connection was instant and beautiful, and after shortly meeting, they married in 1967.
In 1969, Pamela and Charles welcomed their twin daughters, Jodi and Julie, into the world. Being a mother was one of Pamela’s greatest joys, and her love only multiplied when she became a grandmother in 1988 with the birth of her first granddaughter, Megan. She would go on to welcome two more grandchildren, Paige and Brandon, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Throughout her extraordinary life, Pamela was a woman of many talents. She worked in a variety of roles, including at the Oakes Bakery, Terri Lee Fashion, the Oakes Good Samaritan Center, St. Bank in Fargo, and Chalet Super Club in Oakes. No matter where she worked, her radiant smile and positive energy made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Pamela loved having her home filled with the sounds of laughter and conversation. Whether it was inviting her daughters, grandchildren, or next-door neighbors over for a visit, she was always eager to host and share a moment of joy. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and was the life of any gathering. Her love for company was matched only by her love for a good cup of coffee. You could always count on Pamela to have a fresh pot ready for anyone who stopped by.
Pamela was an avid fan of movies and television, particularly Young and the Restless, Judge Judy, and anything else that happened to be on at the moment. In between visits with loved ones and enjoying her favorite shows (she always liked a good lifetime movie), she found satisfaction in keeping her home spotless, always with a smile on her face.
The holidays were her favorite time of year, when she could gather her family together under one roof. It was during these times that her home was truly alive, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of being surrounded by family.
Despite being diagnosed with MS at the age of 29, Pamela faced her illness with incredible strength and resilience. She never let it define her or slow her down. She remained positive and was an active member of the Happy Rollers Support Group in Fargo-Moorhead, where she attended weekly outings with others who shared her journey. Even in the face of such a challenging condition, Pamela continued to enjoy life, showing an inspiring level of courage and grace.
Pamela’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a woman who radiated kindness, warmth, and positivity. Her laughter, her love, and her light will forever be missed by her family and friends.
Pamela is survived by her loving husband, Charles; daughters, Julie (Kevin) Bottchen, and Jodi Ritter; grandchildren, Megan (Kelly), Paige, and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Kasen and Brinley; sisters, Jackie, Carol, Barb, Judy, and Mary; brothers, Wayne and Bruce; a lot of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tommy and Doug; sister-in-law, Sandy; mother and father-in-law, John and Tillie Schreiner.
May she rest in peace, forever remembered by all who loved her.
