Patricia Ann Vick, 93, died March 30, 2025 at SMP – St. Catherine North following a brief illness.
Pat was born on November 30, 1931 to George William Korum and Marvel Evelyn Korum (nee Middaugh) in Fargo. She attended St. Mary’s school and graduated from Fargo Central High School. While in high school, Pat worked part-time for Nelson Optical Company. Following graduation, she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service.
Pat married Alan Vick, a North Dakota State University graduate and Air Force pilot, on February 21, 1952 in Lubbock, TX. Following Alan’s discharge from military service in 1955, the couple lived in Arizona and Fargo. They moved to Rochester, MN in 1962, when Alan joined IBM, and then to Boulder, CO in 1965. Pat kept busy as a homemaker and mother to their two sons. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and sang in the choir at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Boulder. She also was a member of an antiquing group and a gourmet dinner club.
The family returned to Rochester in 1974. In the late 1970s, Pat began taking college courses, with an emphasis on music curriculum, at Rochester Community College. She was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa and served as an officer in that school’s chapter. Pat earned her Associate degree in 1981. Over the years, she was very involved with several community groups, including the Rochester Symphony Guild, the Republican Women’s Club, and the Rochester Keyboard Club (in which she served a term as president). She sang soprano in the choir at St. Pius X Catholic Church and in the Rochester Summer Music Project. She was also involved with fundraising activities at her younger son’s high school
Following Alan’s retirement from IBM in 1990, the couple lived again in Boulder for two years while Alan was teaching computer science at Metropolitan State College in Denver. Over the next decade, they made several trips to the east coast to visit their sons, and Pat remained active in her various community groups. In 2002, Pat and Alan bought a small camper in Detroit Lakes, where Pat had spent much time in her youth. The couple continued to spend summers there until 2010.
Alan died in December 2012. Pat moved to Fargo in May 2013 and resided at Riverview Place until September 2018, when she moved to SMP – St. Catherine North.
Pat loved cooking, baking, playing the piano, and entertaining. She and Alan enjoyed playing bridge with other couples and attending plays and concerts – especially those involving their children. As a grandmother, Pat delighted in spoiling her two granddaughters with American Girl dolls.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory Alan Vick of Arlington, VA, and Dr. Dan (Anne Marie) Vick of Englewood, FL and Syracuse, NY; two granddaughters, Juliette Vick of Syracuse, NY, and 2d Lt Charlotte (Shane Addonizio) Vick, USSF of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Robert Korum of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Korum and George “Mickey” Korum; and a half brother, Dr. Lyle Korum.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5th, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) in Pat’s name.

Charities
The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in Patricia Ann Vick 's name.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing!
I enjoyed being her neighbor for many years, on Telemark Ln. in Rochester,Mn.
She encouraged our youngest son in his musical career. He became a worship leader, sound tech, and simply loves music.
She always bought cute little dresses for my grand daughters. When I would go on walks with my grand kids, they would always run up her driveway and yell, “Hi Mrs. Vick”, and then wait for her to peek out her window and wave at them. Prayers and comfort for your family.
I’m deeply sorry for the family’s loss and I’m sorry for the loss at St. Catherine as well. However, I am blessed for the time I was able to care for her. I will miss her.
Sorry for your loss, Dan. I remember all the years of singing in the choir with your mom. Rita
Dan and Greg, growing up around that group of NDSU guys and their wives was really a privilege. The conversations were always lively and educational. I’m glad my kids got the chance to be a part of that group when they would all come to the lake at Nevis every summer. The end of an era, I’ll sorry for your loss.
