Patricia passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

She was born on July 9, 1952, at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, ND, the daughter of John M. Severson and Vivian G. (Naset) Severson. During her school years, she babysat, did some grandma sitting and belonged to 4-H at Mapleton. In high school, she worked at the Highway Host. She started out as a dishwasher, then a waitress and then a hostess.

She grew up in the Fargo, Mapleton area, graduating from Mapleton High School in May 1971. She married David W. Percel of Casselton, ND, on August 21, 197,1 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic church in West Fargo, ND. Through their marriage they were blessed with three precious daughters: Trude, Crystal and Kimberly. Through the years, they made numerous moves – from Casselton, ND, to Palm Desert, CA, to Fargo then to Leola, SD, to Ray, ND, and to Williston, ND.

Pat held numerous jobs – when her daughters were younger, she decided to take in babysitting so she could be home with them. When the girls grew a little older and started school, she decided to put in an application at the Ray Public School. She jumped for joy when she got the position as the teachers’ aid that she worked for 9 years.

Pat also taught Sunday school at St Michael’s Church in Ray, ND. She enjoyed working with the children very much. She was also a 4-H leader and volunteered driving the club to events.

In the fall of 1989, she and the girls moved to Williston, ND, and began working at the Williston Daily Herald in the mailroom. Later, she applied at the Model Dry Cleaners and did various positions there – working the front as receptionist, clothing inspector and bagging and also some delivery when needed. She enjoyed working with the people there and a person could not find a better supervisor to work with. She worked there for a few years. She also worked part-time jobs with her full-time work – including Wal-Mart when they first came to Williston and later at the Select Inn as a desk clerk in the evenings. When a position opened up at Mercy Hospital in environmental services, Pat worked there for a few years until she had to retire due to health issues.

When all the girls left home, Pat decided to move back to Fargo to be closer to family and friends. In Fargo, she went back to work thru Experience Works – working at the Children’s Museum as a receptionist, taking appointments for the birthday parties and group tours. Later, she went on to work at social services in the filing department and the New Horizons Manor doing computer classes – including some filing and also completed a six-week entrepreneurial training. Pat also volunteered at MeritCare and Sanford Health in Endocrinology.

Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Gale Percel; her father, John M. Severson; and her mother, Vivian G. Wiest.

She is survived by her daughters – Trude (Dale) Klein and Crystal (Steve) Allard; her sister, Elaine (Dan) Volk; her six grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Guestbook

  1. Patty always seemed to take life as it came and was never ever one to complain. Always soft spoken, never loud, always a smile, never a frown, always kind, never cruel, always polite, never rude. I can’t help but think that when he called her home that his first words were,” Thank You My Child, Welcome Home.” Rest in peace Patty.

  2. Rest in peace my dear friend, I’m so glad we reconnected after you move back to Fargo, we’ve had some wonderful times together that I will forever cherish. You’ve had many hurdles in your life and you handled them with such dignity and courage. You were funny, soft spoken and most of all kind.

  3. It was nice to see Patty again at the 2019 reunion. Always loved talking with her. I wish I could have made it back again to see her. Rest in peace Patty.

  4. I enjoyed receiving Christmas cards from Patty and I’ll miss receiving them. It was great to see her at the family reunion in 2019. Rest in peace Patty. You’ll be dearly missed!! Love you!
