Patricia M. Adams
December 30, 1935 ~ October 4, 2025
Patricia “Pat” Adams, 89, of Fargo, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 4, 2025, at White Pines in Fridley, Minnesota.
Pat was born on December 30, 1935, in Cogswell, North Dakota. She graduated from Cogswell High School and earned her teaching degree from Moorhead State University. She began her teaching career in Minneapolis and then continued in Strasburg, North Dakota, before later becoming the head librarian at Fargo South High School, where she served with dedication and joy until her retirement.
In 1959 she married James “Jim” Adams. They shared sixty years together until Jim’s passing in 2019.
Pat filled her days with singing, reading, volunteering, and writing thoughtful opinion pieces for local newspapers. She had a natural warmth that made people feel at ease. Her kindness, humor and gentle spirit helped her form friendships everywhere she went. Even after a major stroke in 2019 affected her memory and independence, she continued to meet the world with grace and sweetness.
Pat is lovingly survived by her son Todd and his wife Jean Adams, her son Marc and his wife Amy Adams, and her daughter Lisa Adams. She is also survived by her granddaughter Shayla Zacher, whom she cherished and raised like a daughter, and by her grandchildren Meg, Emma, James, Maisie, Brandon and Renada. Each of them brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and by her grandson Dustin Sundem, both of whom she loved dearly.
A memorial gathering to honor both Pat and Jim will be held in Fargo this spring. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized. Their love, their legacy and the way they touched others will be remembered always.
Services will be held in the spring of 2026.
