Patsy Francis Anna Garland
Patsy Francis Anna Garland, 44, left us on July 7, 2025, at Sanford Health in Fargo. She was born February 17, 1981 to Frank and Carol Garland in Fargo, ND. She resided in Fargo and Leonard, ND.
Patsy was passionate about the Special Olympics and was a strong competitor in many events. She touched so many people with her enthusiasm and willingness to be a cheerleader for them that you couldn’t help but be a little envious of her love for life. She was very proud of all her awards and couldn’t wait to tell friends and family about her accomplishments. She competed in the 5K Fargo Marathon. Patsy attended baseball games, including the Twins and played on a team for CLS. She received an award from the Salvation Army for soldiership. If there was an event she was there to participate. In 2022, she had been a 12-year Lead Dog in the Special Olympics Convoy.
Her creative side can be seen in her art projects. Many family members still have pictures that Patsy drew for them through the years. If there was a game to play Patsy was all in. I believe she had every monopoly game there was. She was part of the clown world and loved getting made up and becoming Pattycakes. Her big personality drew people in. Her laughter put a smile on their faces.
Patsy was a very big-hearted person that cared about whatever was going on in someone’s life. She took the time to call and check in with friends and family.
She was lucky enough to have had opportunities to travel to different places around the US with her boyfriend Kenny and his family. They treated her as part of their family, and she was truly thankful to be included. She loved talking about her adventures and made sure there were plenty of pictures to share with friends and family.
Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed by her mom, Carol, family members and all of her friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank Garland.
Patsy is survived by her mother Carol M Garland, Fargo, ND.
Memorials are preferred to the Special Olympics.

My granddaughter Olivia loved Patsy!
When I started VTC Main back in November of 2008 to see my friend and co-worker Patsy Garland when she used to work there in Fargo, North Dakota, but also I saw her to be part of North Dakota Special Olympics Cass County back in September of 2010 for being at West Acres Bowl in Fargo, North Dakota for bowling, but I enjoyed having swimming, track & field, bocce, soccer, volleyball and snowshoeing for winter games with her, and then she decided to transition to Community Living Services (CLS) Dayhab in 2017 until her death in Fargo, North Dakota,
Thank you for everything, Patsy

I have known Patsy my whole life and I will miss her dearly. She was a good friend and she always kept in touch with me. She was a nice person, and I went to prom with her at Fargo South. She was a special olympics athlete and went to nationals. She made laugh, she was generous and always fun to be around. My whole family knew and loved her. I WILL MISS HER GREATLY.

9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
So sorry to hear. Loved having Patsy on my bus driving to CLS and other places. Thinking of family and friends during this time and always.
I will miss you.
You were a good friend.
We have known Patsy (and her mom, Carol) for many years through Special Olympics. Patsy knew everyone, and she was always willing to show new participants to Special Olympics, the ropes. She genuinely cared about her teammates, and enjoyed every sport she was in. She was vocal in getting her teammates fired up whether it was for practice or for competition. She was a true supporter and spokesperson for Special Olympics.
Most recently, I’ve had the great pleasure to have Patsy in our Cheerleading group with Special Olympics. She loved cheering on her friends in Basketball, and being part of the Cheer Squad. Her enthusiasm, positive presence and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
Sending our deepest sympathy to Patsy’s family for their loss. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Patsy was a great friend . We would send cards back and forth see each other in special Olympics . And talk about life. We would always talk about our birthdays since there in the same month. She’d check on me since I lived in Jamestown . I’d ask her what u doing she said playing a game with Kenny. Her smile . And bubbly self will be missed . Prayers to carol , Kenny, and her family .

I’m am sorry
I am writing this message from Brian Christensen. Sorry about the loss. Carol and Kenny.
She was quick to come over and introduce herself and welcomed us into the Special Olympic family. Patsy always had a smile on her face, was positive and supportive to those participating from Cass County, but also to any other athlete. Her sense of humor and kindness touched many. Her compassion for others and genuine interest in your life, is something that we could all take a lesson from.
Patsy (Pattycake) was one of a kind! Her smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew her. Thank you for putting a light in our lives for so many years!
Our hearts go out to Carol, Kenny and all of her other family and friends. May you fine peace and strength from those around you in the coming days…..
