Paulette Axtman was born December 8, 1949 in Rugby, North Dakota. She grew up on a farm near Silva, North Dakota and attended a country school in Silva for six years and then two years at Little Flower parochial school in Rugby. She graduated from high school in Rugby in 1967 and from North Dakota State University in 1971.

On December 26, 1972, she married Larry Osborne in Fargo, North Dakota. She worked in the office of Pan-O-Gold Baking Company for 42 years and retired in 2014. She was also the city auditor for the city of North River from 1990 until 2010.

Paulette loved golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, reading, puzzles, computers, lunches with her girlfriends and had a fondness for popcorn. She especially loved cooking holiday dinners for family and was a great cook. Her pickle appetizers were everybody’s favorites. She was an active partner and President in the Dollars & Sense Investment Club. She had a passion to travel and enjoyed many trips with Larry in the US and abroad. She was part of the RCIA team for many years at Holy Spirit Catholic Church mentoring those who were coming into the Church. She cherished the many lifelong friendships with these very special people who taught her so much with their faith and love of the Lord.

Her sister-in-law said that Paulette reminded her of a lighthouse. She was a bright light that provided safety and guidance to those around her. She was beyond generous, genuinely sweet, fun, patient and selfless. She gave good advice and great hugs whenever they were needed. She was a mentor to the student, a caregiver to the sick, a mother to all and a friend to anyone that needed one at that moment. She could relate to anyone of any age and had a heart and soul of gold.

She is survived by her husband Larry; sisters, Bernadette (Jerry) Klein, Rugby, ND; Joan (John) VanDyke, Arlington, Texas; and brother, Leon (Pegi) Axtman, Albertt Lea, Minn.

  1. In Loving Memory of Paulette

Paulette was not only my sister-in-law, she was truly my best friend and the sister I was blessed to have in my life. We talked and texted with each other many times every week, sharing life’s small moments and supporting each other through the bigger ones. Her friendship meant the world to me.

My heart is deeply broken by her passing, and I will miss her more than words can say. Yet I find comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the loving hands of Jesus, surrounded by peace and eternal love.

Goodbye for now, my dear friend. Thank you for the countless conversations, laughter, and memories we shared. I will carry them with me always.

I will see you again soon. ❤️

  2. Thank you for your kindness every day to all of the Hanson family, and many more! Especially my sister Jackie and husband Chad! You can now rest in the arms of Jesus! Please say hello to our Dad! Love you Paulette!

  3. So sorry for your loss Larry and family.

I worked at Pan-O-Gold before retirement and always enjoyed my visits with Paulette when our paths would cross or I had business up in the office. She was always happy and had a nice things to say to all who worked with her.

    Rest in peace my friend.

  4. Paulette and I were on the same bowling team in the 70’s at Sunset Lanes until the birth of our first child in 1979 and I had many fond memories of our bowling team. I met up again with Paulette when we joined Holy Spirit Catholic Church. As someone said “we lost an angel on earth” so I want to add this poem.
    Guardian Angel
    You’ve taken your last breath.
    Your sould has taken flight.
    You’ve been welcomed by God
    Into His ever-loving light.
You’ve gotten your halo by now, I’m sure
Your harp, your robe, your wings.
Your voice s added to the choir
    When all the angels sing.
You were so beautiful in life.
Your heart was filled with love,
As an angel, please be our guardian
    Watching over us from above.

  5. What an example of a life well-lived. We were fortunate enough to get to know Paulette (and Larry) during our time in RCIA at Holy Spirit. We always appreciated her warm and welcoming nature and she was truly someone you felt like you’ve known forever, even after having only met her.

Larry, we are praying for you and all of your family!

  6. Paulette was such a special person and a beautiful friend. I will miss her so much! I attended two different pilgrimages with her and Larry, along with Joan and John and other friends. What a blessed and fun time we had together! I look forward to seeing her again one day in heaven.
