Peggy Gilbertson

Peggy passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home, assisted by hospice, and surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91.

Peggy was born on October 21, 1934, in Fargo, ND. She was raised in Kathryn Valley, and attended schools, before moving to Hillsboro where she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1952.

Peggy was united in marriage to Arnold Gilbertson on August 23, 1953, in Enderlin. They made their home in Hillsboro where they raised their three children. Peggy worked for many years at Traill County Social Services, before starting her time with PCA, later known as Farm Credit Services where she retired after 27 years of service.

Peggy was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro as well as an active member of the Hillsboro American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and loved all of the time spent with her grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her three children – Teresa “Teri” Gilbertson of Haxtun, CO; Kathleen “Kathy” (Dennis) Duval of Hillsboro; and Lindsey Gilbertson of Hillsboro; her grandchildren – Audra (Kent) Anderson, Jared (Brooke) Duval, Jenessa Duval, Bethany Drennan, and Sydney Drennan; and her great-grandchildren – Isaac, Kate, Lemmy, Evelyn, Avery and Hadley. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Blenda Gilbertson of Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews and other dear relatives.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie; her son-in-law, Bohn Dunbar; her parents and in-laws, Mertice and Cliff Johanneson and Bertha and Gutfred Gilbertson; and her brother, Ronald Bakke.

Memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro or to HIA Hospice.

PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro – with a visitation beginning at 6 PM

FUNERAL SERVICE: 3 PM Monday, March 30, 2026, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro – with a visitation beginning at 2 PM
