Richard Norman Kuebler, 91, of Fargo passed away Monday September 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Richard was born June 30, 1934 in Mott, ND, the fourth child to Alexander and Beata Kuebler. In 1941, the family moved to White Center Heights in Seattle, WA. After the end of WWII, they settled in Fargo, ND where Richard found his lifelong home. He graduated from Central High School in 1953 and went on to attend NDSU for a time before enlisting in the US Army in1956. Following his separation from active duty, he served two years in the Reserves.

Richard married the love of his life, DeLaine Summers, on April 1, 1961. Despite her passing in 2016, their love remained eternal and continued on though their children who were the pride of Richard’s life. Shortly after their union and welcoming their sons Mark and David to the family, Richard began work at Northern States Power where he would retire after an illustrious career in 1995 as shop foreman.

Richard was an avid reader of history and consumer of current events with an interest in fighter aircraft. He could often be found gardening or reading his Bible in the quiet times of life. Above all, he loved his family and spent many memorable vacations with them.

He is survived by his sons, David (Deborah) and James; grandchildren, Alexander (Crissy), Christopher (Katie), and Kathryn; great grandchildren, Carson and Colter; and nieces and nephews, Mary Kay (Brad), Jeannie, John, Vicki, Patty, and Judy.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Delaine; parents, Alexander and Beata; son, Mark; daughter, Sandra; and brothers, Ernest, Roland, and William.

A heartfelt thank you to Home Instead and Hospice teams for helping Richard rejoin his eternal family in Heaven with peace and dignity.

  1. David and all of your family, I am thinking of you and will continue to hope you are blessed by each other’s company and memories. It is hard to say the right thing during these times, but you are not alone.

    • Thank you Ellen Stewart

  2. David, I have many fond memories of your dad. We had many great conversations over the years, especially at Christmas, particularly resonating with our mutual interest in history and aviation. I will never forget that trip we had in his car, Fargo to Bismarck in record time—June 1972. He will be missed. Blessings to you and your family.

    • Thank you for the kind words Bill. We’ll need to talk more about memories next time we meet.

  3. David and Jim and family-Dean and I are thinking about all of the good times we had with your whole family while we were neighbors 48 years ago. You boys were young kids then. Your mom and dad were wonderful people to be neighbors with. That was a lot of fun back in the “old” neighborhood and we can never bring that back. Our prayers are with you guys and the rest of the family as well. God Bless, Linda and Dean Kochmann

    • Thank you prayers and wishes Linda and Dean. Also thank you for helping create memories all those years ago. There truly was a “family” when we were going up.
