Ronald “Ron” Edward Evans, 57, of Hillsboro, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family following a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on December 20, 1967, in Salt Lake City, UT, Ron was a man of the mountains—rugged, warm-hearted, and full of tales that blurred the line between legend and truth. Did he really once live in a teepee? Was he actually treed by a bear while bow hunting? With Ron, the answer was always “Would I kid you!” and the laughter he brought with every story mattered more than the facts.

A gifted storyteller and a natural people person, Ron spent much of his professional life in sales and commercial and residential construction, bringing not only skill but heart to every project. He had an eye for design, a talent for building, and a knack for turning houses into homes. But Ron’s greatest pride was his family.

He met his wife, Courtney, in the most unexpected way—over spilled coffee, no less—and from that memorable moment bloomed a marriage full of adventure, resilience, and deep love. From Tacoma to Alberton, and eventually to Hillsboro, Ron built more than just homes—he built community.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Courtney; his teenage son, Ben; his adult children, Ryan Evans (Kyra & son Riftin) and Marissa Evans (Brandon & son Aiden); his step daughter Karina Adler (Tyler and children Easton, Wyatt, Addison and Parker); his mother, Judy Hudlow; his brother, Dennis Evans (Nicole); his sisters, Tammy Brown, and Susan Patterson; along with many nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends and extended family who will miss his booming laugh, his big bear hugs, and the mischievous grin that always came before a tall tale.

He chose to spend his final days the way he lived—with strength, humor, and on his own terms. Ron came home to be with those he loved and passed peacefully, with family by his side. He left behind a sky brightened by a shooting star and hearts forever warmed by his memory.

In honoring Ron’s wishes, the family will host a celebration of life filled with stories and good food on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 3 – 7 pm at their family home in Hillsboro.

Ron did it his way—wild, warm, and unforgettable. May he rest in peace and mischief.
