Ronald Joseph Spaeth
Ronald “Ron” Joseph Spaeth, 72, of Fargo, ND, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, May 4, 2025. In his final days, he entered Sanford Hospice Care on Friday, May 2, and passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, just as he wished.
Born in Langdon, ND, on April 3, 1953, to Vernon and Mary (Lothspeich) Spaeth, Ron attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School, where his journey of hard work and adventure began.
At just 14 years old, Ron took on farm work, which led to summers spent custom combining across the country. His industrious spirit carried him into the coal mines of Wyoming and heavy equipment operation, followed by a career as an over-the-road truck driver that took him to every corner of the United States. He loved sharing stories about the places he had seen, each tale reflecting his deep appreciation for the open road.
Ron’s journey led him to call several places home through the years. He resided in Indiana, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Florida, and Arizona before returning home to North Dakota in 2011.
A devoted NASCAR fan, Ron cheered for his favorite driver, Jimmie Johnson, with enthusiasm. He found joy in classic westerns and John Wayne films, and he always kept up with current events, engaging in discussions about the world around him.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his oldest brother Richard, his half-sister Linda Hanson, a nephew, and two great-nephews.
He is survived by his beloved long-time girlfriend, Jean; faithful companion dog, Maggie; his brother Tom (Janel) Spaeth of Bismarck, ND; his sister Susan (Chad) Peterson of Moorhead, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron lived a life shaped by adventure, resilience, and the simple joys of good conversation and shared stories. He will be missed and forever remembered. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Ronald. I was shocked to see his name in the obituary list. I taught in Langdon from 1966 to 75 and I remember well having Ronald in my class. I have good memories and I am praying that God give him an eternal joy and peace. Sister Lorraine
We are so sorry to hear of this loss. Ron was always a character with a story or two when we visited Langdon. May he rest in peace and may his family know that he is now in God’s hands.
I am very sorry for your loss. I have good memories of him, and he will be missed.
Sorry for your loss.
