A graduate of Fargo South High School, Ross pursued his passion for education at North Dakota State University and St. Cloud State University, where he earned his degree in education while proudly playing college football. He cherished every moment spent coaching track, football, basketball, and baseball, positively influencing the lives of countless students. Ross’s dedication to his students and athletes was a testament to his kind and generous spirit.

Ross’s passions extended beyond the classroom. He found happiness in hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his cherished dogs. Above all, he deeply valued his family, friends, and students, always making time for those who mattered most in his life.
He is survived by his wife Brittany; children, Remington and Bryceson; parents, Roger and Barbara; sister, Leslie (Joey) Dawson and nephews, Daxton, Maverick and Hayes; parents-in-law, Terry and Ann Stargardt.

Oh Brittany, we are sending our love and prayers to you all ❤️🙏
I was two years younger than Ross and he was literally the first person to welcome and say Hi to me when I got to football camp at SCSU. I was a nervous freshman standing in line to get my pads and he went out of his way to make me feel welcomed and comfortable. He was genuinely such a nice guy and friend to me. My sincerest condolences to your entire family.
Ross was an amazing guy & wonderful to work. Prayers from The Jim & Nancy Naylor Family

Ross’s leadership with the Fargo School District’s elementary physical education study group was outstanding. He took on the tasks of organizing, preparing presentations, and communicating with us all. His professionalism also came with a warm greeting and a smile.
My condolences to his family and relatives.
I had the privilege of playing alongside Ross at St. Cloud State. His infectious smile and joyful spirit for life was always something I admired about Ross! The world lost a good one! Condolences to the family and sending prayers!
Ross was a student of mine at FSH. He was one of those students who stood out because of his enthusiasm and positivity. I still remember the fun and laughter he brought to class. The world has lost a special person. Sending my sincere sympathy to his family. 🙏🏻
Our sincere condolences! Ross was an amazing co-worker to work with! He always had a smile on his face, and he was more than willing to go the extra mile to make a difference. He seemed to really enjoy working with the students, staff, and life itself. He also coached basketball with our boys at FBA, and was a mentor to one of our sons. He was so helpful! No matter the arena, he was there to make a difference and he did! He is missed! May the wonderful memories that you have, help you and your family at this difficult time.
Losing someone is never easy. Ross has a special place in my heart, even though I didn’t know him very well. He was always there to brighten up the day.
Hold onto the good memories and let all others slip away.
Praying for peace and healing for you and kids and all the families. 💙🙏.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you! Remember the good times! 🙏
From the first time I saw Ross running through his mom’s salon as a preschooler to working at at Lincoln Elementary School as a supportive fun loving Teacher. What a great guy and uplifting person to be near and a friend to all.
God’s peace and comfort to family
and close friends.
So sorry to hear this news. Ross Olson truly cared about every kid on the team, and made their experience positive. My son was the least skilled 9th grade baseball player when he played at Fargo South, but he loved playing for Coach Olson. He rarely got in the game, but in a game that was still on the line, coach Olson sent him up to bat in the last inning. He got to first base, and eventually was able to score the winning run in a walk off. To this day he considers that his World Series moment. It was due to coach Olson‘s sense that sometimes a kid just needs a chance to feel special. RIP
Thinking of you at this difficult time. So sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Your loving friends from Schwetty, Inc.
My sincere condolences to Brittany, Remington and Bryceson as well as the entire family. Ross was a most phenomenal person in everything he did. He was a joy to work with at Lincoln. He will be remembered fondly and never forgotten. Continued prayers for you all .
Sympathy to the family. As a student in my classroom, Ross stood out with his bright smile, positive attitude,, kindness, and quick humor. In addition, I enjoyed watching his athletic skills.. Years later our paths crossed as colleagues. He greeted me with that same wonderful smile and it was a fun re-connection. Ross left his imprint with all lucky enough to know him.
Thank you, Mr. Olson
