Susan Hansmann, 89, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Denton, Texas under the care of Three Oaks hospice with two of her children by her side.
Sue was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 13, 1934. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and was a registered nurse. She married Thomas Hansmann in 1958, and they moved to Fargo, North Dakota where they raised their 3 children.
Sue worked as an operating nurse supervisor at St. John’s hospital for many years. When she retired, she worked part time for Hospice. Sue was an active member of Holy Spirit Church in Fargo for over 50 years. She loved to garden, knit, and make ceramics, but mostly, she loved her friends and family.
After their retirement, Tom and Sue traveled during the year and spent summers at a lake cabin in Minnesota. In 2017, Sue moved to Texas to be closer to her children.
Sue is survived by her children John (Dawn) Hansmann of Murphy, TX, Mike Hansmann of Greenwood, IN, Cathy (Larry Champ) of Aubrey, TX; by her grandchildren Madison Hansmann of Salt Lake City, UT, Bethany (Paul) Kiker, of Bradford, AR, and Addison Champ of Gainesville, TX; 5 great-grandchildren, and many dear friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The times I got to spend time with Susan were so precious. I think of her often, especially at Christmas as I put the baby ornament she gave Karly on my tree. Love and prayers to her family.

I worked with Sue in the operating room at St John’s hospital for many years… she taught me a lot and was always fun to work with… fond memories … sorry for your loss… Colleen Weick
