Tyler Robertson

tyler robertson
Tyler “Ty” Robertson of Fargo, ND passed away at home June 30, 2019 following a 2 year courageous fight against brain cancer, which was nothing short of amazing. His positive attitude and strong spirit inspired everyone he knew. Tyler John Robertson was born February 14, 1998 in Grand Forks, ND. He attended school in Grand Forks until the age of 15 when his family moved to Fargo, ND. He then attended Sheyenne 9th Grade Academy, and then West Fargo High School from where he graduated in 2016. He then went on to NDSU for Civil Engineering but was only able to complete a semester, due to the progression of his Glioblastoma. Tyler had various jobs which included, Papa Murphy’s, Happy Joe’s, HuHot, and finally Buffalo Wild Wings, where he was treated like family and made countless friends with his infectious smile and quick wit. Tyler loved Minnesota Twins baseball, skateboarding, and especially watching Minnesota Wild hockey. His love of hockey led him to play from the time he was able to skate as a little boy. He played for the Fargo Freeze, West Fargo High School Packers, and Moorhead Spuds Junior Gold. Tyler’s greatest passions were his family and friends. Tyler loved playing hockey with his dad in Men’s League also known as “Beer League” and was able to up until his last surgery in October of 2018. Tyler had an interesting and impressive shoe collection which also fueled his collection of unique socks. He thought highly of his mother’s cooking and especially loved her chicken tortilla soup. He was extremely close with his sister Amber, and they had a special bond that can never be broken. Tyler will be remembered for his generosity, kind heart, sarcasm, and his ability to make every person he came in contact with smile, without saying a word. Tyler taught us all about courage and never let his condition discourage him. Tyler is survived by his parents, Cindy and Joseph (Allison); sister, Amber (CJ Kernan); niece, Sophia; grandmother, Vicki Robertson; and many aunts and uncles. Tyler is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth Ann and Gerald Deitz, Frank Robertson; and uncle, Billy Deitz. Tyler’s family would like to thank Pearl Vision, his entire care team at Mayo and Sanford, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Buffalo Wild Wings of Fargo, and his countless friends and family that have supported him through his battle with cancer.

  6. I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Tyler. Although I didn’t personally know Tyler, I did go to school with his Dad at Central a few years back. I also know his grandmother who is at UND as well. Please accept my sincerest condolences. It sounds like Tyler was a pretty outstanding person. He will surely be missed by all.

  7. Hey there Tyler! It’s me, that RT that kept pushing that MetaNeb mask in your face to help you with your lungs…you did not like it but you were a trooper and you knew you needed it. I had a few very nice talks with your mom while you were at Sanford; those talks reminded me of that fierce love I have for my only child, a son just a couple years older than you. And although I have no idea what she (and your dad) are going through right now, I can only imagine and it breaks my heart. However, it is my belief, that where you are, you have no more cancer, and are part of that hockey team in the sky!! My prayers for the family left behind…always…

  8. Tyler was a Very Sweet boy in my 2003-2004 Kindergarten Class. I am shocked and saddened to hear of his tragic passing. I remember he and Amber being close even back then. Prayers for Tyler, his family, and friends at this difficult time. 🙏🏼💕

  9. Ty I know you are pain free now and an angel looking down on all your family it was a pleasure knowing you for the time I did and prayers to all your family and friends and support and healing for them. RIP my friend you will always be remembered

  11. Joe and Cindy and family, sorry to hear of Tyler’s passing, I talked to you, Joe at teamsters, very briefly a few weeks ago, had no idea what you and your family were going through. I enjoyed playing with you and Tyler, and the Father/Son joking that took place. As you know, it will take time to heal. God’s blessings on all of you.
