Jerome D. Thompson Jerome D. Thompson, Walcott, ND, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12:30 a.m. at the Sanford Palliative Care Center. Jerome was born on July 15, 1937 in Fargo, ND to John and Evelyn (Groff) Thompson. He grew up on the family farm near Walcott, ND. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1955. Jerome remained on the farm, and also raised cattle until his health caused him to slow down. He was a member of the Air National Guard for eight years. He was a life-long member of Richland Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, men’s club, and sang in the men’s choir. Jerome enjoyed hunting, camping, and sports with his family. He especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and attending all of their activities. He never missed a basketball, baseball or football game or program. Jerome is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Arlene; his sons, David (Shari) Thompson, Walcott, ND, Steven, Hankinson, ND; seven grandchildren, John, Nick and Cody, Walcott, ND, and Shannon, Theresa, Jesse, and Ozzy, Hankinson, ND; and great grandson, Bentley, Breckenridge, MN; his sister, Marlene (Leslie) Rieger, Walcott, ND.

  1. Our condolence to you Arlene, Dave, Shari, John, Nick and Cody, Steven and his family.
    Your husband and dad was a very wonderful and caring person. He will be greatly missed.
    Was shocked to his obit in Sunday’s paper.
    We will see you on Tuesday and want you to know that Bill was very grateful to Jerome cause he taught him a lot while Bill was managing the Eckre ranch.

  2. We were saddened to hear of Jerome’s passing. I am thankful for the times we shared while growing up on the farm. May your family find comfort in knowing that he leaves a void in the lives of many who knew him. He was always kind, caring and had a great sense of humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

  3. My condolences to you Arlene and family. We enjoyed may good times when we were kids growing up on the farm. We all will certainly miss him but, have the comfort of knowing he has gone to be with the Lord.
