J. Frances Green

Frances Green passed away unexpectedly in her south Fargo home on Saturday morning, October 31, 2015. Frances Olson was born on February 27, 1930 in Maddock, ND. She was the youngest child of Oscar and Clara Olson, and sister of Lyndon, Clarice (Nelson), and Meads (Buth), who all preceded her to the Great Beyond. She graduated from Fargo Central High School and later, the International School of Business. In 1956, she married the dashing Daniel Green, which made him deliriously happy. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2016. She is survived by her adoring husband, her beautiful and talented children (in birth order), Dr. Michael Green in Beverly Hills, CA; Jeffrey (Peggy) Green in Moorhead; Lori Green in Moorhead; as well as her amazing grandchildren Timothy Green in Moorhead and Brandi (Dallas) Trimble in Fargo. Thanks to equal parts love, encouragement, forgiveness and common sense, everyone turned out pretty well, thank you very much. Frances was a sophisticated career woman until the birth of her children, when she gave up the glamorous life to be the perfect mother. When the youngest child was self sufficient, Frances went back to work for 10 years ( as if nurturing a family wasn't work). Frances was an avid reader, solver of puzzles, and a Minnesota Twins fan (the latter to the dismay of her children). She was a loving partner, fantastic mother, and a generous grandmother. She had a keen mind worthy of a CIA analyst, and a sly sense of humor. It will be hard for her family to carry on without Frances, but she taught us to persevere without unnecessary drama. We will always love her, and will miss her, and we'll do our best not be an embarrassment. A remembrance will be held on November 5, 2015, from 2-4PM at Boulger Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Please, do something kind for someone as you remember Frances with us.

  1. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Dan, Fran and family.
Fran was always an interesting and worthy opponent for holiday board games.
    We will miss her.

  2. To whom I refer to as my 2nd family, I will truly miss Fran. My dear friend Lori has many of her great qualities to carry on. Please know that I share in your sorrow. You all are always in my thoughts.
