Eileen Joanne Perhus was born September 2, 1932 in Kindred, North Dakota, the daughter of Norris and Karen (Lunder) Hagen. She was called from this life on July 14, 2006. She was 73 years old. Eileen was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Kindred Lutheran Church. She grew up on a small family farm along Highway 46 west of Kindred. She attended Barrie School through the 8th grade and graduated from Kindred High School and Interstate Business College in Fargo. On June 6, 1953, Eileen was united in marriage to A. Eugene Perhus at Kindred Lutheran Church by the Rev. E. M. Sletten. To this union five children were born. After their marriage, Eileen took care of the family home as a wife and mother. She tended a garden that produced fruits and vegetables for their family. She sewed clothes for herself and their children in addition to those for their Barbies. She cooked and baked, was active in church activities and community events, worked weighing in trucks at the Kindred scalehouse of American Crystal Sugar, and during retirement volunteered at Bethany Homes and Girl Scouts of America. Eileen is survived by son, Kelly (Deb) of Kindred; daughters, Wanda, Kim, and Twila of Fargo; and Faye (Timothy) Labatt of Minneapolis; three grandchildren: Tanner, Kelsie and Karley Perhus; sister, Arla Mae (DuWayne) Discher, Clinton, MN; sister-in-law, Norma (Ray) Perhus of Fargo, two brothers-in-law, Orville Perhus of Fargo, and Harland Olson of Viroqua, WI, and many loved nieces and nephews and their families. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, A. Eugene (Gene), in 1984; her parents: Norris and Karen; four sisters and a brother-in-law: Myrtle, Inez, Norma and Pauline (Bob); brother-in-law, Raymond Perhus; and sisters-in-law and their husbands: Harriet (Ardell) Bakko and Sylpha (Lyle) Foslien, among many other special extended family members. Funeral services will be held at Kindred Lutheran Church, Kindred, ND at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18th , with visitation one hour before. Visitation for Eileen will be Monday, July 17th, at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND from 6:00 - 8:00p.m. Burial will be at the Perhus Cemetery, rural Kindred, ND.
