Adolph Gross passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at his home in Fargo, under the loving care of Hospice, at the age of 82.
Adolph Paul Gross was born November 29, 1920, at Nekoma, ND, to Louis and Amelia Gross. They later moved to a farm near Milton, ND. He graduated from Milton High School in 1939, then attended NDSU, Fargo, ND, and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Education.
He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific from July 1943, until March 1946, leaving the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant (JG). On February 27, 1944 he married Martha Emily Norenberg from Hillsboro, ND.
He was appointed as County Extension Agent in Eddy County in New Rockford, ND in August 1947. He served in this position until he retired in July 1976. After that, he and his wife worked part time on the Pesticide Program under NDSU until 1996. In 1985, they moved to Fargo.
Adolph was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years, the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, was president of the North Dakota County Extension Agents Association, and was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Judy Gross-Kent (Tom) of Los Angeles, CA and Cindy Seibold (Steve) of Warroad, MN; two grandchildren, Angela Matthews (Nick) of Houston, TX and Lisa Seibold of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Leonard Gross, Lakeville, MN; and one sister, Lucille Kartes of Buckley, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant twin brother, Otto Gross; his sister, Helen Fahnlander; and his brothers, William Gross and Edward Gross.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, or the Roger Maris Cancer Center.
Visitation: Friday 2-7 p.m. – Boulger Funeral Home and Saturday in the church one hour before the funeral service.
