Agnes J. Skarvold, 97, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Bethany Retirement Living with family members by her side, and under the care of the staff on Cedar Square and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Agnes Jonetta Skarvold was born April 2, 1917, at the rural Christine home of her parents, John and Beret (Lokken) Skarvold. She was the youngest of the six children. Agnes attended Consolidated School in rural Christine and then worked at various places in the Fargo-Moorhead area including Manchester Biscuit Co, The Fairmont Creamery, and F-M News, from which she retired in 1982. She also worked for a short time in Portland, Oregon. After her retirement she volunteered at Prairie Public.

But her generosity and helpfulness with her family…..especially her nieces and nephew, and great-nieces and nephews was her priority. All of this was done quietly and with great humbleness.

In 1998 Agnes moved to Bethany on University where she continued to live until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Grace (Gilbert) Bolme, Carrie (Ed) Dittmer; her brothers Arnold (Alvina) Skarvold, Taylor (Marlys) Skarvold, and Ole Skarvold, and three nieces.

She leaves behind a daughter Margaret Larson, Edina, Minn., six nieces and one nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews, each of whom holds in their heart memories of kindness shown to them by Agnes.

Memorials are suggested to the Chaplaincy Fund at Bethany, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or South Pleasant Cemetery Fund.

Agnes was a great friend and roommate to my mother Genevieve. She always had a smile on her face. I know she was alway happy to see us come visit and enjoyed watching and talking to my 3 year old grandson. Glad she was a part of our lives and we will miss her smile on our visits.D Rest in Peace Agnes.
