Alice H. Esbenson, 95, Comstock, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Manorcare, Fargo.

Alice was born March 11, 1917 near Hawley, Minnesota on the family farm to Julius and Annie (Hovelson) Hovelsrud.  She grew up in this area attending rural schools. 

On November 14, 1946 Alice married Larry Esbenson in Park Lutheran Church, Hawley, Minnesota.  They lived in Moorhead for a time until moving to Comstock where they raised their family.  Alice was a cook at the Comstock School for many years.  She worked at American Linen until retiring in 1988.  Larry preceded her in death in 2004.

Alice was active in the Steam Thresher Reunion at Rollag where she served as Queen for 1 year.  She was active with the quilters in Comstock as well as with ladies aid.  She loved baking with lefse as her specialty.  Alice and Larry could be found golfing and fishing.  Alice was quite a seamstress making wedding dresses for her daughters as well as doing needlework and quilts.  She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing bones.

Alice is survived by Annette (Mel) Heimark, Farmstead Estates, Moorhead, Arlette (Jack) Stoetzer, Fargo, Darlene Rolie, West Fargo; grandchildren, Brenda (Terry) Pendleton, Paul Stoetzer, Dean (Angela) Rolie, Jay (Teri) Rolie; great-grandchildren, Travis Rohrich, Carley Pendleton, Jordan Pendleton, C.J. Rolie, Kyle Rolie, Megan Rolie, Katlynn Rolie; great-great-grandchildren, Kali Fankhanel, Blaze Stoetzer, CeCe  Stoetzer, Nathan Rolie, and MacKinna Rolie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Kip Heimark and siblings Nilmar, Alpha, Cliff, Melvin, Bernice and Mae.
