Alida A. (Trottier) Utke, 93, passed away September 7, 2019 at Edgewood Vista, Fargo, ND. Alida was born July 28, 1926 to Eugene and Louiselle (Sauvageau) Trottier in Horace, ND. She grew up on the family farm in the Horace/Wild Rice area and attended school at St. Joseph’s Academy school in St. Benedict. After moving to Fargo, she worked at Manchester Biscuit Company. Alida married Wallace “Wally” Utke on June 4, 1960 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. They made their home in Fargo where they raised three children; Darrell, Karen and Connie. Wally and Alida were one of the founding families of Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo. When the children were small, Alida was a stay-at-home mother and helped her mother-in-law make drapes at Utke’s Drapery. Alida enjoyed baking, gardening, and canning. She later worked in the bakery at Jim’s Super Valu, retiring in 1989. Alida is survived by her children: Darrell (LeAnn) Utke, West Fargo, ND, Karen (Lori Blachford) Utke, Des Moines, IA, Connie (Maurey) Kratcha, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Matthew (Joann) Kratcha, Moorhead, MN, Heather (Phil) Molling, Coon Rapids, MN, Carly Kratcha, Fargo, ND, Kyle Utke, Osaka, Japan, Tiffany (Travis) Hoffman, Blaine, MN and Ryan Utke, Brooklyn, NY; three great-grandchildren; sister in law, Eleanor Trottier, Fargo, ND, brother-in-law, Robert (Carol) Utke, Winter Haven, FL; sister-in-law, LaDell (Oscar) Sorenson, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Alida was preceded in death by her husband, Wally; parents; brothers: Patrick, Lionel, Alderic, Augustin, Joseph, Sylvio, and Roland Trottier; and sisters: Loretta Schmidt and Lillian Cossette, and Rosalie Lohr.
