Amy, who resided at Bethany Homes since 2000, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11. Amelia Buchholz was born in Fingal, North Dakota, on March 17, 1912, graduated from high school there, and received her two-year teaching diploma from the Valley City State Teachers College. She married Peter (?Shep?) Shepherd on March 30, 1940, and the couple was involved in department store management in Wisconsin and Illinois before settling in Fargo. Amy managed the Dotty Dunn Hat Shop and Claire?s Boutique in downtown Fargo for many years and later managed the accessories department for De Lendrecies at West Acres until her retirement. Amelia Shepherd is survived by her son Blaine, his wife Jacquie, and grandchildren Eric (Autumn), Kaitlin, and Kristin, sisters Della Nayes (Viola, Idaho) and Mollie (Ray) Schnell (Oakes), sisters-in-law Rhoda (Martin) Huber (Fingal) and Mrs. Ed Aalgaard (Fargo), and many precious nieces and nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her husband Peter (7-11-1990), brothers William (?Bud?) and Marvin, and sisters Lillian Wedberg and Hulda Pedersen. Special thanks are offered to the wonderful and caring staff at Bethany Homes, and to those friends and relatives who were so helpful to Amy during her years at Bethany. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bethany Homes Chaplaincy Program.
