Ann Cichy, age 59, Fargo, ND peacefully passed away in her home Thursday, November 2, 2006. She lived her life and died with grace, dignity and style. She was born March 4, 1947 in Fargo to Doris ( McAuley) and Elmer Sundstad and was raised in Perley; graduated from Hendrum High School and Moorhead State University, majoring in speech and theater. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Straw Hat Players and the Black Friars. After graduation, she continued her involvement with the University as a director and president of the Alumni Board. She married Mike Cichy in 1975. Ann began her real estate career in 1977 at Fargo Insurance Real Estate. In 1991 Ann joined Park Co. Realtors as a Sales Associate and was named Relocation Director in 2000. Ann made significant contributions to the real estate industry. During her career, Ann received numerous awards including FM Realtor of the Year in 1984, 1986 and 2005; Distinguished Service Award; North Dakota Leadership Award; North Dakota Chapter of Certified Residential Specialist; North Dakota Realtor of the Year, 2005 and The National Association of Realtors Omega Tau Rho Award. In addition, Ann held the position of President of the FM Area Association of Realtors and the North Dakota Association of Realtors. She served the National Association of Realtors as National Director, Regional Vice President and as Regional RPAC Trustee. Ann was also very involved in the Fargo Moorhead community. She served on the Fargo Planning Commission; the Board of the FM Opera; was a cabinet member of the United Way; active member of the Board of Directors of the Fargo Moorhead Theater; a member of the Metropolitan Council of Government and Business Education Partnership; and was a member of the Fargo Moorhead Chamber of Commerce. Ann is survived by her husband, Michael; sisters, Jane Fuchs (Michael) Glyndon, MN, Mary Beth Sundstad (Gary Harmsen) Minneapolis, MN; several nieces and nephews; the Cichy family; and her Park Company family. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. The funeral service will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Landstad Cemetery, Perley, MN. Memorials are preferred to MSUM Alumni Association, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or the FM Opera Company.
