Ann Jesser passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Sanford Hospital from complications of a brain aneurysm. Ann was the youngest of 9 brothers and sisters and enjoyed a wonderful long life. She still lived in her own condo with her precious cat, Queenie.
Ann was born April 23, 1922 in Mott, ND, moving to Bismarck after high school. She married Jake Jesser and moved to Washburn, ND in 1958, living there until the mid-80s when she moved back to Bismarck, where Jake passed away. She lived there working as the Assistant Manager of The Great Hot Dog Experience until she retired in 1994. In 1995 she moved to Fargo to be with her entire family and was very lucky to have a condo within a block of her daughter’s house and right next door to her church, Metropolitan Baptist Church. She loved attending church but in her later years she would sit and listen to church on the radio—she loved reading her Bible and that was something she did every morning, and every evening.
Ann would spend hours just walking around Fargo and continued this until her later years. She loved doing word searched puzzles and sometimes finishing two books in a week. She always had a garden and loved working in it until she wasn’t able—so her deck was covered with plants and a large cherry tomato hanging plant which yielded over 300 tomatoes and is still growing- she was so proud of “her little garden.”
Ann was very young even in her later years, spending hours shopping with her daughter. She was known to spend 3 hours in a store either trying on clothes or shopping for groceries. This was at least a weekly thing right up to the end. She had trouble getting to sleep in the evening, so she and her daughter, Karen, would call each other between 10:30pm and 11:00pm and talk until midnight so they could say “good morning” to each other. She had this sweet song that she would sing at midnight, “good morning my beautiful daughter, I love you.” We never missed a night doing this.
Ann was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters, her husband, and her first great-grandchild, Nikolas Mueller. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Virgil) Mueller, a son, Wes (Wanda) Jesser, three grandsons, Mike (Jaycee) Mueller, Tony Mueller, and Alan (Joanna) Jesser. She also had 9 Mueller great-grandchildren, Alex, Michol, Kaggen, Tyler, Lexi, Karissa, Michaela, Haley, and Braelyn. And we can’t forget her cat, Queenie, who was her pride and joy. All of her family live in Fargo and we were blessed to have her with us. Ann was beautiful person inside and out and everyone who knew her said she was a “spunky” person, always joking, laughing and teasing—she will be missed beyond belief!
There will be a funeral service at 2:30 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Fargo with a visitation beginning at 12:30 PM.
