Anna Geffre

anna geffre

Anna Mary Geffre was born on November 2, 1945, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Weigel) Geffre in LaMoure, ND. She grew up in this area and graduated from LaMoure High School in 1964. Ann furthered her education at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Following her graduation she began working at Kindred Electric in Kindred, ND, later moving to Minneapolis where she worked for an advertising agency. Ann moved to Fargo in 1973 where she began her career at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Fargo working there for 30 years. Shortly after her retirement, Ann returned to the workforce, working for her nephew at The Lockshop as the bookkeeper until 2012.

At age 8, Ann contracted Polio which affected her throughout her life. Despite her challenges she never let any of them get in the way of her accomplishments. Her determined spirit and loving heart will be remembered by all of her family and those who knew and loved her. In the past few years, Ann had made her home at One Oak Place in Fargo where she appreciated the many friends she made - especially her card buddies. She was also very active in her church and bible study, and volunteered for Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Ann is survived by her special nephew, Larry (Denise) Geffre – and their children, Noah, Anna, and David of Horace, ND; her brothers, Sebastian Geffre of Fargo, ND; Nick (Joanne) Geffre of Jamestown, ND; and Peter Geffre of Atascadero, CA; her sister-in-law, Corene Geffre of West Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Josephine Olmstead; and her brother, Roy Geffre.

Through her last act of generosity Ann gave the gift of sight thorough cornea donation.
