Anton (Tony) Honek, 91, died Monday, October 15th, 2012 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo, ND.
Tony was born on June 28, 1921 near Mahnomen, MN to Anton and Teresa (Ondrush) Honek. He attended school in Mahnomen and graduated in 1939. He moved to Fargo and worked for National T. He was a home delivery milkman for Cass Clay Creamery for 38 years, retiring in December, 1981. He loved his job, especially visiting with his customers and the kids on his route.
On June 13, 1944 Tony married Anna Janousek at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun, MN. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before her death in November, 2010.
Dad loved John Deere tractors, new cars and tinkering, lots of tinkering.
Tony is survived by his daughters Kathy (Rod) Stende, Gladstone, Mi, Mary (Bob) Rohla, Donna Honek and daughter-in-law Lou Ann (Gary) Honek all of Fargo, grandchildren Sarah (Cody) Cannon, Grand Forks, Jared (Stephanie) Honek, Fargo, Eric (Kim) Stende, Menominee, MI, Joanna Stende and Jeff Stende, both of Anchorage, AK, Andrea (John) Telega, St. Cloud and Emily Rohla, Minneapolis, great-grandchildren Ben Telega, Anna Cannon, Michael Stende and Nolan Honek. He is also survived by his brother George (Ellen) Honek and sisters Frances (Joe) Kneip and Celia (Art) Stillwell and sister-in-law Monna Honek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Anna, infant son Steven, son Gary, and brothers Frank and John.
We would like to thank the staff at Bethany on 42nd for the loving care given to Tony and his family.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Tony. I would also like to thank your family for giving me the opportunity to know Tony and also your family. Tony was always so kind hearted and quick witted. We saw the announcement of Tony’s passing in the paper today. Our deepest condolences to the family. We feel like we have lost a family member of our own. Tony and Ann helped us learn how to live in North Dakota
. We couldn’t have asked for better neighbors. They are fondly remembered and deeply missed.

fargo ndI remember when your dad was our milkman and we waited for him to come so we could get our hopalong cassidy milk caps to turn in and get t-shirts. He was such a wonderful man and will be missed.
Fargo I was so sorry to read in the Forum of Tony’s passing. I just want to say how much my mom Evie Wisness enjoyed knowing Tony as her milkman over a number of years. She loved their morning visits as I recall from my childhood. We teased her sometimes that she had a crush on Tony! She passed away in 1979, but I can picture her today sharing a cup of coffee and catching up with Tony. He was a dear man. I know he will be missed by many family members and friends.
