Anyiwei Maciek 23, Fargo, ND died September 9, 2021 in her home. Anyiwei was born May 14, 1998 to parents Matim Maciek and Umjuma Mayol in Sudan. Before moving to Fargo, North Dakota she lived in Syracuse, New York. She graduated from West Fargo High school and attended MSTATE. She was loved by the community. She was a founding member of the OneFargo organization and Black Lives Matter. She will be missed by her work in activism. She also was a model and caregiver, which she had pride in doing. Anyiwei was known to many as a loving friend, sister, mom, cousin, etc. She was a young, vibrant, passionate and caring person. She loved to give back to the community and was involved in many groups hoping to make a change. Anyiwei took great pride in working alongside people supported to better their lives. Her loss has left a huge impact on those around her and those who knew her. Her spirit was left on those who she encountered in her young life on this earth. She will be remembered through her 9-month old daughter Navaeh as well as her mother, siblings, and close family members. She is survived by her beautiful, daughter Naveah Maciek; her mother, Umjuma Mayol; brothers, Arop Maciek and Dawer Maciek; and sister, Aluel Maciek. She is preceded in death by her father, Matim Maciek.

    I met Anyiwei at the George Floyd March. The sweetest and largest heart for the people.
    Anyiwei taught me to stand for what is right and to always follow my heart.
    She will be greatly missed.
