ARDELL MERTES Ardell Mertes, age 61, Christine, ND, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005. Ardell Malsam was born on November 10, 1943 in Hillsview, SD. She graduated from Hosmer High School. She married Duane Mertes on July 18, 1964 in Hosmer, SD. They farmed together near Hoven, SD. In 1978 they moved to Britton, SD where Duane was a State Farm Agent. She devoted her time as a caregiver in the area for many years. Her husband passed away on February 2, 1994. Soon after she moved to Christine, ND and resided there until moving to Elim Care Center in June of 2004. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, rummage sales, and socializing with friends. She is survived by her children, Sharri (Randy) Lacher, Christine, ND, Sean Mertes, Jordan, MN, Dena (David) Moitzheim, Pine Island, MN, Clint Mertes, Apple Valley, MN, Tanya Mertes, Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren plus one expected in September; her siblings: Janice Malsam, Hosmer, SD, Allan Malsom, Dickinson, ND, Eloy (Patty) Malsom, Laramie, WY, Rosella (James) Heyne, Roscoe, SD, Charles Malsam, Leavenworth, KS, Arnie (Charleen) Malsam, Thorton, CO, Mary (Floyd) Mohr, Hosmer, SD, Barbara (Anthony) Schumacher , Kindred, ND. She was preceded by her parents, her husband, brother, Steve Malsam and sister, Mary Ann Malsam.
