Arden “Jack” Wendell Jorgensen, 90, Fargo, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. He was born on July 13, 1926 in Galesburg, ND to Charlie and Elvina (Erickson) Jorgensen. Jack grew up on a farm near Galesburg and graduated from Hunter High School in 1945. Jack was employed at Gaffaney’s Office Supplies for many years and later worked for Pierce Printing before managing AB Dick until his retirement. On February 20, 1948 Jack was united in marriage to Ada Newton in Moorhead, MN. The couple lived in Grand Forks for several years before settling in Fargo where they raised their children. Jack was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed bowling and roller skating. Building models was another one of his favorite hobbies. Jack liked to do puzzles and play cards, especially cribbage, with his family. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren at the many get-togethers he and Ada had at their home. Jack will be remembered fondly for his jokes and storytelling. He took great joy in making people laugh. Jack would always tell people when they were leaving, “Smile a lot!” He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ada; children, Julie (Terry) Carden, Alan (Cleo) Jorgensen, Richard (Kathleen) Jorgensen, Jane (Steve) Peterson; grandchildren, Cheryl (Brian) Bostad; Lee (Sarah) Jorgensen, Dennis (Shawna) Jorgensen, Carol (Jon) Wood; Jenny Gress, Erin Gress, Justin (Amy) Gress; Zach Peterson, George (Kelsey) Peterson, Ellen Peterson; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. 10. We extend our sympathy to Aunt Ada and the Jorgensen family. Uncle Arden was my father (Vernon Jorgensen’s) brother. His happy demeanor, caring for others, beautiful and joyful laugh, wit and charm and infectious smile were some of the things I loved about Uncle “Jack”. He was always a welcoming figure in our family and ready to give hugs and one liners that would pick up your spirits at any time. He was a precious soul and gift from God to our family. He was a true treasure and we will miss him dearly. I can just hear the jokes, the beautiful laughs and quips between the brothers and sisters in their heavenly home. I deeply regret not being able to attend the funeral service as I am currently in Arizona. Sending condolences, your niece Elaine Rae Jorgensen and Allen Steffes
