Obituary

Arlene Lien, 87, of Fargo, ND had her suffering end on Monday, June 7, 2021. She passed away at Essentia Health in Fargo. Arlene, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was so very proud of her family.

Arlene was born on August 15, 1933, to Tom and Elvina (Lucier) Cullen in Cass County. She grew up and attended school in Fargo.

On August 29, 1952, she was united in marriage to Don Lien at St. Mary’s Cathedral. They made their home in Fargo. She worked for American News until she left to start their life together.

She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s and St. Anthony’s Catholic Churches.

Arlene is survived by her husband of almost 69 years, Donald, Fargo; her sons, Rick of Osage, MN; Bob of Fargo; grandchildren, Erik (Sylvia) Lien of Ham Lake, MN; Melissa (Erik) Uetz of Argusville, ND; Michael Lehmann of Fargo; Amanda Lien of Coon Rapids, MN; great-grandchildren, Harris, Cullen, Eliza; siblings, Jeanie (Merlin) Johnson of Lewiston, ID; and Sherry (Dick) Fradet of Moorhead.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patti; parents, Tom and Elvina; brothers, Thomas Jr, Donald, Lloyd, Vernon “Buzz”, Clayton, Robert “Bob,” Lorraine, and Evelyn.

Arlene’s family wants to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Essentia Health, especially Janice, who cared for her in her final days.

    Its been many years since I have visited Fargo, but the times I have lived there and visited I have always had such great times at Auntie Arlene’s. Always sitting at kitchen tables sharing stories, laughter and of course always food!! Always a welcoming home to visit. You will be greatly missed💞
