Arlys J. Hoyt, 66, Horace passed away Friday, November 5 in the Palliative Care unit of Sanford Hospital, Fargo.

Arlys J. Hoyt was born July 29, 1944 to Herbert and Ella (Keblar) Almer, in Harvey, N.D.  She grew up in Goodrich, ND and moved with Family to McHenry, ND.  She graduated from High School in McHenry.  Arlys married Monte Hoyt October 26, 1963 at McHenry.  The couple farmed in the area and later lived in McHenry.  They moved to Moorhead and later to Fargo for a short time, and in 1971 moved to Horace and have lived there since.

Arlys worked at Dayton's, Fannie Farmer, The Zephyr Bar in Fargo, ND, the M & J Saloon in West Fargo, ND the Sheyenne Bar in Horace, ND. She than owned and operated her own cleaning service in the FM area for the next 25 years.  She retired because of failing health in 2005.

She enjoyed crafts, baking, yard work, shopping, playing Bingo, and going to the street fair. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she went all out decorating for it.

Arlys was a member of the Happy Homemakers of Horace for 35 years. She was also a long time member of Horace Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Monte, 2 children; Jeremy Hoyt, Horace, ND and Debbie Anderson, West Fargo, ND, 3 sisters; Carol Kennedy, Excelsior, MN, Kathy (Ron) Goldade, Fargo, ND and Karla Schick, West Fargo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

  2. Denise and I babysat for you and Arlys many times. What a wonderful woman she was. I will always remember those times. I would alwasy think about that everytime I drove past the house you lived in in Mchenry. Such great memories. My prayers are with you all.
