Arnold (Arne) Herbert Jorgenson, 85, Fargo, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, June 7th, 2015 at Villa Maria, in the presence of family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Arne was born May 27, 1930 in Cando, to Jorgen and Olga (Wick) Jorgenson. He graduated from high school in Cando and served as a Drill Sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He then attended NDSU on the G.I. Bill and received his BA in English Education. He taught High School English for 4 years at various rural North Dakota schools, later working as a vocational counselor for Job Service North Dakota in Fargo and later Jamestown. During his career he pursued post-graduate education at UND. Arne was a member of the American Legion and the Lake Agassiz Rock Club. He loved nature and enjoyed traveling, studying geology, and playing harmonica. He also enjoyed following UND Hockey and NDSU Football. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and playing hockey. He is survived by his sister, C.A. Kim (Ben) Parkhouse, and brother Jim Jorgenson; his children, Debra (Eberhard) Mehling, San Rafael, CA, Kathryn Brewton, Colorado Springs, CO, Sharon Jorgenson, Redding, CA, Eric (Kristine) Jorgenson, Fargo, ND; Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Stanley, Floyd and Norman, his long-time companion Jane Jenson and one grand-daughter, Kelly Jorgenson. A small celebration of life ceremony will be held for his immediate family and close friends.
