Bernice J. Anderson of Halstad, Minnesota, passed away peacefully November 28, 2005 at the Halstad Living Center only one month and one day short of her 96th birthday. The daughter of August C. Aanenson and Mary Olson Aanenson, Bernice J. Aanenson Anderson was born on December 30, 1909 in Shelly, Minnesota. Her formative years were spent in Shelly. Along with her parents she was an active member of the Shelly Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She married Joseph A. Anderson on October 11, 1930 in Shelly and they began their married life and raised a family of four on a farm in Traill County until they retired to Fargo, ND. They remember the inability to keep private lanes open because of heavy snow. Every Sunday morning she and her four children walked a half mile to the county gravel road with Joe carrying a warm battery to install, hoping the car would start, so that they could get to church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October of 1980. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, son Keith, her parents, three brothers, and three sisters and infant twins. She is survived by her son, Roger J. (Connie) of Hillsboro, ND; and daughters Dee (Duke) Wentworth, Minneapolis, MN, Geri Dailey (Garry) of Moorhead, MN; and daughter-in-law Arlene Anderson of Rochester, MN.
